Van Devender
Thomas Lester Van Devender, 76, of Mercer Island, WA, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, WA. Born in Sioux City, IA to Lester and Sophie Van Devender he lived his life throughout the United States, Sao Paulo, Brazil and Caracas, Venezuela.
Thomas graduated from East High School in Sioux City, IA in 1957 and graduated from the University of Washington in 1963. He worked for General Electric throughout his career retiring from the company in Caracas, Venezuela.
Thomas was extremely loving and proud of his four children, Tracey Kimbrell (daughter) and her husband William Clay; Eric Van Devender (son); Craig Van Devender (son) and his wife Julie; and Alex Van Devender (son). He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Ashley (Kimbrell) Lindsay, Deven Kimbrell, Conrad Van Devender, and Emerson Van Devender; his brother, Dan Van Devender and his wife Debbie; and, most of all, the love of his life, his wife and best friend, Gertrude (Slade) Van Devender.
