I always loved hiking with Veleda. She was a strong hiker and her love of nature and being outdoors was contagious. I also loved her feisty spirit. Will anyone on an Everett Parks hike with Veleda ever forget her famous line "the complaint department is closed"? Hope you're climbing new mountains in heaven, Veleda -we will miss you!

So enriching to have known you.It was good when you were on a hike because any question regarding nature, Veleda, you'd have the answer, whether it be a bird call or a flower name or whatever. Such a smart, kind, intelligent lady. I thank you for the backpack that you handed off to me when your hiking days were over. It was fabulous to have in Scotland and every time I wear it I will remember you. "Happy Trails."
