Walter Marth Obituary

Walter E. MARTH, Jr.

Walter E. MARTH, Jr. went home to be with Jesus on June 20, 2014 after many years of fighting illness. Walt was born October 30, 1939 in Chehalis, Washington to Walter and Olive Marth. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy Marth, his son Steve (Karen) Marth of Monroe, daughter Shannon (Scott) Fox of Everett, daughter Lynn (Jonah) McKee of Carnation and son Jeffry (Melissa) Marth of Kirkland. Grandchildren, Alexandra, Natalie, Jordan, Kendall, Grace and Caelan. Walt is also survived by his sister Dolores (Yee) Chinn of Centralia.

Walt worked for 40 years in IT for the Washington State Community and Technical Colleges. He loved gardening and enjoyed sharing his "crops" with family, neighbors and co-workers. Walt was a prayer warrior and loved Jesus. He learned the true meaning of taking each day "one day at a time". Above all else he loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. In his eyes retirement was meant for spending more time with them.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Olive Marth and 3 sisters, Marlene, Donna and Clara.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 27th at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Resurrection in Bothell. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Colby Raye's Road To Recovery (http://www.gofundme.com/a32o1c).

I met Walt and Nancy through church. I don't know that I ever saw one without the other, and both emanated love for each other and kindness to me. Praying for the family and particularly sweet Nancy with the loss of such a wonderful man.

I worked with Walt while he was with the state board, and remember him fondly as a caring, gracious gentleman. Those qualities were necessary as the system was going through a major technological platform shift, and his sense of humor made the process much more bearable.

My thoughts and prayers are with his wife as children during this time.

Want to thank the Marth family for their wonderful gesture of donating to our little
Colbey Raye. She is my great grandaughter and I can't thank them enough for the help for her family. It means the world to us.
Bless you all.
