Yvonne "Bonnie" Vontver

Yvonne Loree Vontver (Bonnie), loving wife, mother and grandmother, was born on August 6, 1935 and died on November 16, 2018 She was adopted by her loving parents, Rita and Fred Courteau, and grew up in a happy home in Minneapolis Minnesota, with her older sister, Wayve, whom she adored.

Her compassionate nature led her to healthcare. She attended the University of Minnesota where she received a B.S. in nursing. Upon graduation, she was offered a Head Nurse position at a highly respected surgical unit at the University Hospital. During her time at the University, she met and married a young medical student, her beloved husband, Lou; a marriage which lasted 58 years.

Following Lou's rotating Internship in California, the young couple was stationed (US Air Force) in Tachikawa, Japan for three years, before finally settling in Seattle in 1964. Bonnie worked part time as a nurse, but relished being a stay-at-home mom, and gave herself wholeheartedly and gratefully to her life's true calling...raising her three children. She loved them fiercely and unconditionally, and they knew it. Her favorite password was "Lovemykids3".

She devoted many years to Lou's Swedish Bolling Family as their United States representative. She loved making family trips to Scandinavia, and enjoyed river cruises in Europe and Russia with friends. A unique six-week adventure in Saudi Arabia was a once in a lifetime travel experience.

Bonnie volunteered in support of her children, her community and her beliefs. She served young women and men as a counselor at Planned Parenthood. She was involved in the local PTA, Co-Chaired the Lakeside School rummage sale, and served on the View Ridge Swim and Tennis Club Board. As a member of the Hawthorne Hills' Community Club, she participated on the neighborhood noise abatement committee, even though her son was a drummer. Later, she worked to secure Magnuson Park for the community when the Sand Point Navy Base property was sold back to the city.

She cherished her friendships in social groups like the View Ridge women's group, which morphed from a cheese co-op, to a coffee co-op, and finally, to a still active book club. She was also part of a couples book group which lasted over 22 years. She loved reading and her book groups.

Bonnie is survived by her husband Lou; daughter Kirsten; son Ross; grandchildren Jillian Hunter (Grant) and Roy; son Jason (Leslie); grandchildren Beck, Tia and Tatum; as well as her beloved sister Wayve, and her niece and nephews Mark, Tim, Kyle and Phil and their families. She was deeply loved by her family and is greatly missed.

A memorial will be held at the Sand Point Community United Methodist Church, 4710 NE.
