Edward Horne Obituary

Edward Lee Horne Sr., 74, of Warrensburg, MO, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, KS. He was born on May 23, 1948, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Paul E. and Verna (Lange) Horne, who preceded him in death.
On July 26, 2003, in Warrensburg, MO, he was united in marriage to Valerie Horne.
Ed graduated from La Monte High School in 1966. He worked for 38 years for a local electric company retiring as a foreman. He was a hard worker, even as a child. While still in school, he helped his uncles on the farm and did various odd jobs. In his middle years, he enjoyed bowling, archery, and coed softball. He was a long-time member of the Elks Lodge. After purchasing the farm, he enjoyed planning and carrying out projects on his property. He was always available to help friends and family. During retirement, he loved to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada, checking off bucket list items wherever he went. When he wasn't traveling, he spent time watching movies and television shows, his favorites being historical documentaries, cops, and sci-fi. What he enjoyed the most was hosting events and spending time with his family. As a man who was dedicated to his family, he was very generous and giving.
Edward is survived by his wife, Valerie Horne; daughter Jeannie (Paul) Hannigan; son, Bradley (Shanda) Horne Sr.; six step-children; Michelle (Adam) Wendel, James (Alisha) Huff, Timothy Huff, Alicia Huff, Tracey (Delvin) Miller-Gaylord, Karen (Pat) Hoffman; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a sister, Sue (Gordon) Schade.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a previous wife, Sandra Horne; a son, Edward Horne Jr.; two brothers, Paul Horne and Edgar "Cutie" Horne.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Rea Funeral Chapel in Sedalia, with Pastor Alan Morse officiating.
Burial will be at Knob Noster cemetery following the service.
Honorary bearers will be his grandchildren.
