Robert Mann Overstreet Jr.
SNOW HILL, Md. — Robert Mann Overstreet Jr., age 90, died on Saturday, April 16, 2016 in Snow Hill, MD.
Born in Sedalia, he was the son of the late Robert and Lena Hainline Overstreet, Sr. The Overstreet family was one of the oldest in the area, having come to Smithton, MO before Sedalia was founded. Growing up in Sedalia, he attended Broadway School and graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1944, where he was active in musical activities. He played the organ at Calvary Episcopal Church and in later years became the organist.
He attended the University of Kansas majoring in music, later transferring to Central Missouri State College where he graduated in 1949. He later received his Music Education Degree from the University of Missouri. He was an Army Veteran, having served from 1951-1953.
After the service he returned to Sedalia and worked with his father for Acme Cleaners until moving to Silver Spring, MD in 1967, where he worked for the National Institute of Dry Cleaning.
He later moved to Annapolis, MD and worked for Montgomery Ward Co. for 20 years. He then retired to Ocean Pines where he was a member of the Berlin-Ocean City Optimist Club, and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Berlin where he served as organist and choir director.
A graveside service will be held on April 24, 2016 at 11:30 AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Churchyard, 3 Church Street in Berlin. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory may be made to: St. Paul's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 492, Berlin, MD 21811. Letters of condolence may be sent via: www.burbagefuneralhome.com.

I worked with Bob at the Julia A. Purnell Museum in Snow Hill MD in the mid 1990's. He was my "Weekend Warrior", and I could not have managed without him.Such a sweet, kind person! God bless him and his family.

Mr. Oversteer was a wonderful man. We knew him living next door to are son and he would come to all the events they had . He was a wonderful piano player. My husband would AlwYs go to see him when we were in ocean pines..MAY HE IN PEACE NOW.
