Violet Luetjen Obituary

Violet Minnie Luetjen, 91, of Cole Camp, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Good Samaritan Care Center, Cole Camp. She was born on November 2, 1930, on the family farm in Pettis County near Mora, Missouri, a daughter of Henry John and Minnie Margaret Emma (Ziems) Oelrichs.
She was baptized on November 16, 1930, at Brauersville Lutheran Church near Cole Camp by Rev. Rudolph Kranz and at that time, the services were held in German. She was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cole Camp by Rev. Hugo Renz on July 21, 1946.
On June 13, 1949, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cole Camp by Rev. Hugo Renz, Violet was united in marriage to Herbert Otto Luetjen. This union was blessed with the gift of three children, Rodger, Philip, and Barbara.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cole Camp. She had worked at Lamy's in Sedalia, Thomasetti Shoe Factory, was a bookkeeper for husband at Herb's Motor Service in Cole Camp, and did housecleaning. Violet loved hosting family gatherings, attending family reunions, and going on family trips. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, and preserving old German heritage and genealogy. Each year when it came time to fluff flowers, Violet was involved, even fluffing flowers this year for three different floats.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Heimsoth and her husband Steve of Cole Camp; two sons, Rodger Luetjen and his wife Theila and Philip Luetjen and his wife Pam, all of Cole Camp; a sister-in-law, Joann Oelrichs of Mora; a brother, Melvin Oelrichs and his wife MaryAnn of Mora; six grandchildren, Sara Dunn, Amy Kaiser and her husband Keith, Eric Luetjen and his wife Kyle, Jason Heimsoth and his wife Susan, Brandon Heimsoth and his wife Lezlie, and Brittany Mullins and her husband Cody; and fifteen great-grandchildren, Auric, Jacob, and Michael Brockfeld, Hans, Hugh, Dasch, Krue, and Clarke Kaiser, Matthew and Macy Luetjen, Jocelyn, Olivia, Maya, and Ben Heimsoth, and Nora Mullins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Minnie Oelrichs, her husband, Herbert Luetjen, two sisters, Lilly Wessel and Ida Luetjen, two brothers, Vernon Oelrichs and Harry Oelrichs, and a grandson-in-law, Brian Dunn.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cole Camp with funeral services to be held at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Stephen Zeller officiating. Burial will be in St Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Cole Camp.
Pallbearers will be Eric Luetjen, Jason Heimsoth, Brandon Heimsoth, Keith Kaiser, Larry Wessel, John Oelrichs, Cody Mullins, and Ron Newman.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund or St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp. Online condolences may be left at www.foxfuneralhomecolecampmo.com.
