PERRYSBURG -- Janice M. Haar, 76 of Perrysburg, OH died, surrounded by family, Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Mercy Hospital, Perrysburg, OH. She was born August 26, 1948 in Toledo, OH to the late Jack and Frieda (Watson) Kunz. She was a graduate of Bowsher High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Toledo in 1971. On September 11, 1970 she married Walter H. Haar who preceded her in death February 3, 2004. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, crafting, and reading.
She began her teaching career in Oak Harbor as a first-grade teacher. She continued teaching in the Genoa, Eastwood, and Maumee Valley Country Day School. A majority of her teaching career was at Rosary Cathedral School beginning in 1986 until 2001, then in Fremont Public Schools starting in 2001 until her retirement in 2008. She served as a 4H adviser, Cub Scout Leader, Girl Scout Leader, T-Ball assistant coach and beginner's soccer coach.
Survivors include her sons: Tom (Patty) Haar of Perrysburg, OH, Shawn (Laurie) Haar of Kihei, HI, and Jeff (Lisa) Haar of Haskins, OH; grandchildren: Emily (Alex) Polcyn, Connor Haar, Corrina DeHart, Landon Haar, and Avery Haar; siblings: Diane (John) Schemenaur, Terry (Ginny) Kunz, Penney (Chris) Schaaf; and brother-in-law Greg Armstrong. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Jeri Lyn Armstrong.
Visitation will be Friday from 2-8pm at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel, 19550 W. SR 51, Elmore, OH 43416. Funeral Service will begin at 11am on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery, Elmore, OH.
