Janice Wilcox Obituary

PEMBERVILLE -- Janice G. Wilcox, 72, of Pemberville, Ohio passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, OH. She was born on April 29, 1951 in Toledo, OH to John "Johnny" C. and Jane (Hammer) Knorr. Growing up her father led the Johnny Knorr Orchestra which greatly influenced her love of music. She listened to music of all kinds and was particularly fond of contemporary Christian music. In 1969 she graduated from Start High School in Toledo and later attended Bowling Green State University where she studied music. Janice married Orville Lynn Wilcox on June, 15, 1974 in Temperance, MI. She and Orville raised 5 children and celebrate nearly 50 years of marriage together.

Janice worked as a young lady in real-estate and law offices until she decided to put her children first by being a homemaker and homeschooling several of their children. She also worked as a seamstress creating bridesmaid's dresses for others, as she had for her own wedding. In 2000 she was able to realize a lifelong dream fulfilling her passion for horses when the Wilcox's purchased Faith View Farm in Pemberville. Janice was active in Wood County 4-H between the years of 1995 and 2002. In more recent years she enjoyed crocheting beautiful blankets for her family and friends.

In addition to her husband Orville, Janice is survived by her children: Rosemary (David) Wilson of Delta, Monica Thompson of Grand Rapids, Sarajane (Robert) Cornelsen of Wichita, KS, Kathryn (Charles) Tidd of Wellston, OH, and Orville (Abby) Wilcox II of Pemberville. 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and brother, Gerald (Emilie) Knorr of Oregon, OH. Janice is preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends will be received 3-7 p.m., on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, Ohio where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., by Pastor Ron Merritt on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Janice will be laid to rest in Pemberville Union Cemetery abutting the Faith View Farm property, the place she loved most.

So many memories of our family get together over the years. Christmas was especially fun with it being at Aunt Jane's House, with always a train around the tree, or at our house. Of course there was always a dinner and an opportunity to enjoy the day. This was generally on the day fter Christmas.
There were gatherings at the lake (either in Bono or Cub Lake.) The cookouts held in summer with fresh tomatoes and corn always a part of the menu. We watched our children grow when they were in their toddler years. Birthday celebrations were always an event. A gathering for Uncle John, Jerry, Janice in April, and the big birthay event was always in August. This one was attended by all in honor of Jean and Jane. Yes, there are so many memories.
Now with sadness, Janice has passed. May the Dear Lord provide peace to your family and surround you with so many good memories of the past 50 years. Due to our own health issues we cannot attend the service, please know you are in our thoughts and prayers this day.
With deep sympathy, Cousins Dan and Pam Malcom
