Joel Curlis Obituary

FINDLAY -- Joel Alan Curlis, 65, of Findlay, Ohio went to Heaven on March 30th, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 14, 1958 to the late Arvin E. "Woody" Curlis and Lois Bockbrader. A graduate of Elmwood High School Class of 1976. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, his high school sweetheart Diane Curlis (nee Lombard), son Chad (Beth) Curlis, son Tyler Curlis, and grandchildren: Brayden and Kylie Curlis. He is the son in law to Laverne and the late Donald Lombard. He is also survived by his siblings, Robin (Bill) Hartwell, Todd (Kris) Curlis, Ryan (Kathy) Curlis, sister-in-law Vivian (Rick) Williamson as well as many nieces, and nephews.

Joel was a loving husband, incredible father, devoted grandfather, and coach to many. He showed his family what it meant to be caring and compassionate individuals. More than anything, Joel enjoyed spending time with his family. He was at his best while watching his grandchildren, do the activities they loved whether it was on the baseball/softball diamond or on the soccer field. He was a loyal follower of all the kids' activities and events. He was a coach and an influence to many kids life thru baseball. Joel was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Michigan Wolverine Football fan. He enjoyed playing cards and anytime spent with family and friends. After decades at Findlay Industries, he recently worked at American Plastics. Joel lived life to the fullest. His passion and zest for life were infectious and will always be remembered.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5th from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the Barndt Funeral Home, 121 W South Street, Wayne, Ohio 43466, Additional visitation Saturday, April 6th from 10:00am Service starting at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, be kind to someone today. Donations can be made to Findlay High School Trojan Baseball Program.

I´m so sorry for your loss. Joel and I worked together the last 4 years and I have come to appreciate his sense of humor and quick wit. He was an integral part of our success in building the business and he was always on time and never , I mean never made a mistake . He always delivered on time

Diane, Chad and Tyler you were able to spend so much time with this man because he loved you all. He wanted to be present.

His humor was so awesome and he shared it where ever he would go. Always having a good word for those he would meet. He is still spreading his joy, he will be remembered as a great man...

This man truly made a difference, he will not be forgotten..
