HASKINS -- Penelope Sue "Penny" Getz, 87, of Haskins, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, in Bowling Green, Ohio. Penny was born on July 25, 1937, in Bowling Green, to her late parents Robert and Mearl (Ramey) Morelan. She married Frederick J. "Fred" Getz in Perrysburg, Ohio, on February 11, 1956, together raising four children. Fred and Penny shared 47 wonderful years together until Fred's passing in 2003.
Alongside being a mother, Penny served 12 years on the Eastwood School Board, 16 years on the Wood County Board of Education, and 8 years on the Penta Vocational Board. She retired after 17 ½ years as Middleton Township Trustee as she was quite active in her community. She was also a former member of the Ohio School Board Association, the Federal Relations Network, TMACOG, and Steuben County Lake Council.
Penny's greatest joy of her life was her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed watching all their athletic events and spending time with her family. Her summers were happily spent at Lake George and she often retreated to Florida for several months during the winter. Penny had a special place at Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, North Carolina. She was a card player as well as an avid reader, who enjoyed the little things and simply loved being around people. Penny was an incredibly loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. The impact she made on her family will be lasting and she will be deeply missed by all of those whom she leaves behind.
She is survived by her children, Larry (Pat) Getz, Jim (Debra) Getz, Alan (Robin) Getz, Susan (Dan) Klink; grandchildren, Ellen (Ethan) Schwartz, Daniel (Kelsey) Moser, Janelle Moser; step grandchildren, Graham (Rachel) Lewis, Sara (Logan) Anderson, Amber (Chris) Prire, Jodie Wegman, Shauna Andrew; brother, Robert (Phyllis) Morelan; sister in laws, Karen Getz, Becky Getz; 4 great grandchildren; and 14 step great grandchildren.

Sincere sympathy to the family of Penny Getz. My husband knew and liked Fred & their son Larry. I fondly remember having Alan in third grade at Webster School. He was a joy to have in class. Penny was a sweetheart and will be missed by many.
