Kevin Carigon Obituary

Kevin Andrews Carigon, 65, of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully, surrounded by family on March 16, 2017 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born on April 13, 1951 in Ionia, Michigan, the son of Glen and Phyllis (Andrews) Carigon. He grew up in the Ionia area, graduating from Saranac High School in 1969. He moved to Atlanta in 1979, where he owned and operated Kevin's Meter Testing until his death. He was a very active member of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, currently serving as the President. Kevin was heavily involved with the Great Lakes Electric Meter School serving as past chairman, sitting on the steering committee, and was a lab instructor. He was also a member of the Atlanta Eagles as well a past charter member of the Sons of the American Legion, Saranac Post 175. He enjoyed donating his time by announcing Montmorency County 4H events and football games with his good friend, Mike Wurtsmith. He was active with the Cub Scouts with his boys, having served as their Scout Master. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, especially when it involved trips to Rice Lake in Canada with friends and family. Above all else, Kevin loved being with his family. He will be dearly missed.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Paula of Atlanta, Michigan; sons, Paul (Traci) and Mark (Cora), both of Atlanta; grandchildren, Reilly, Jenna, Ryder, and Alyssa; father, Glen Carigon; and sisters, Pat (Grant) Blood and Pam (Gary) Erridge all of Ionia, Michigan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis; and a brother, Michael.
As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service for Kevin to be held at the Atlanta Community Schools High School Gymnasium on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held at the gym from noon until time of services. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Home. The family has suggested memorials in lieu of flowers for the benefit of the Atlanta Sports Boosters, the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Activities Fund or the Munson Manor Hospitality House in Traverse City. When I think of Kevin many things come to mind, He loved a good Hamburger, Playing golf - never saw him get mad, loved metering problems and resolved most issues. His greatest asset was everyone was a friend.
