Verna Simpson Obituary

Verna Coleman Simpson, 78, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013 at the Georgetown Community Hospital. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Shelbyville and Shelby Chapter #140 Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen C. Simpson. She is survived by her son, Mike Simpson (Shirley), Taylorsville; daughter, Tonya Steele (Robert), Midway; grandson, Joseph Steele, Midway; sister, Etta Spaulding, Mt. Washington; brothers, Freeman Coleman, Shelbyville; and Lloyd Coleman, Madison, Alabama. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Shannon Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery. Rev. Terry Yeager is officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church, Mike Simpson Fund, 1286 Briar Ridge Road, Mt. Eden, Ky. 40046.

We are so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Simpson was one of our favorite people when we lived in Shelbyville. A reminder, Harold mowed her yard. Our love and prayers are with your family.
