Angela Dawn Southerland
June 9, 1965 – Sept. 3, 2021

Angela Dawn Southerland, 56, of Fayetteville, Ark., peacefully passed away on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, in Fort Smith, Ark. Angie was born June 9, 1965, in Sallisaw to Albert Southerland Jr. and Wyneta Southerland (Branham).
She graduated from Gans High School and received a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University and a master's degree from Northeastern State University. Angie was a certified public accountant and Vice President and Corporate Controller at Twin Rivers Foods in Fayetteville. She previously taught math at Muldrow High School.
Angie is survived by one sister, Carol Cowan of Roland; four brothers, George Southerland of Alma, Ark., Roger Southerland and wife, Vicki, of Muldrow, Bob Southerland and wife, Cathy, of Roland and David Southerland and wife, Theresa, of Tahlequah; 12 nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and nephews; one great-great-nephew; and countless other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Wayne Cowan.
Angie was extremely generous, a lifelong follower of Christ, and an avid fan of the Oklahoma State Cowboys and University of Arkansas Hogs. She was a long-standing member of Cross Church in Fayetteville. Her kindness, positivity, humor, and lighthearted nature were infectious. She enjoyed tennis and annually wagered a Coke against her brothers on the Bedlam football game. She poured herself into her family and was endlessly engaged in her favorite role as Aunt Ang.
A graveside celebration of Angie's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9 at Memory Garden Cemetery in Muldrow. Viewing is available Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Masks are encouraged.
Pallbearers will be nephews Danny Southerland, Jeremy Southerland, Nick Southerland, Justin Southerland, Kevin Cowan, and Houston Southerland.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Ulmer, Andy Row, and Ryan Ensley.
Special thanks to the staff at Chapel Ridge Health and Rehab in Fort Smith for taking such good care of their Disney princess.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
