Dorothy was born in Custer County, Oklahoma on Oct. 8, 1932. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Creed Daniel Smith and Ruth Marie (Vaughn) Smith, and her two siblings, Norma Jean (Smith) Crawford and Robert E. Smith.
Dorothy was raised in Oklahoma City and was a graduate of Classen High School. In 1955, Dorothy graduated from the University of Oklahoma School of Nursing and began a long career as a Registered Nurse. In the mid 1960s Dorothy started working in the mental health field at Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma which sparked her desire to go into the field of counseling. So, in her 50s Dorothy went back to school at Northwestern State University to obtain the additional hours needed to obtain her bachelor's degree and subsequently earned a Masters Degree in Social Work/Counseling at the University of Oklahoma. But that was not enough for Dorothy, so she applied to the Ph.D. Program in child and family therapy at Texas Women's University and was accepted. Dorothy spent the later part of her career doing child/family therapy and substance abuse counseling. Dorothy truly loved her family and friends, especially her three granddaughters: Taylor, Lauren and Paige. Dorothy was also an accomplished amateur artist and worked under the name "Dotigha."
Dorothy is survived by her son, Kent S. Ghahremani and his wife June, together with her granddaughters: Taylor Linton Ghahremani Scamardo and her husband Chance Parker Scamardo of Little Rock, Ark.; Lauren Smith Ghahremani Halbert, and her husband Charles E. Halbert III ("Tripp") of Fayetteville, Ark., and Paige Varley Ghahremani and her boyfriend Cooper Strosser of Bella Vista, Ark. In addition, Dorothy had one great-granddaughter, Cameron "Cami" Parker Scamardo of Little Rock, Ark., and was close to her many nieces and nephews, some of whom lived with her in Norman at various times while said nieces and/or nephews were students at the University of Oklahoma.
