John departed this world on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, in Vian, leaving behind a legacy imbued with love and laughter. Born on April 6, 1945, in Tulsa, he was the cherished son of the late Lorene Agatha (Pell) Wilfong and Earl William Wilfong. John married the love of his life, Lynda Lee (Green) Wilfong, on Aug. 13, 1965, in Charleston, Ark., forging a partnership that was a beacon of devotion and strength.
John owned and operated a successful home improvement sales and installation business, providing his community with both quality craftsmanship and heartfelt service. His faith was a cornerstone of his life; he was a member of Central Christian Church, where he found both solace and purpose. His generous spirit shone brightly through his volunteer work with Catholic Charities in Sallisaw, demonstrating his deep commitment to helping others.
Nature was John's sanctuary, where he found joy in hunting and fishing, embracing the great outdoors with enthusiasm. He was a big Arkansas Razorback fan and loved eating good food. Those who knew him would agree that John was a gentle soul, with a remarkable talent for making others laugh, embodying the essence of family and love.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynda; daughter, Misty Casher and husband Jesse of Muldrow; son, Jeremy Wilfong and wife Katina of Muldrow; two treasured grandchildren, Dr. Macey Hale, and husband Aubrey of Broken Arrow and Jacob Casher, and wife Emily of Muldrow; as well as a precious great-granddaughter, Eliza Grace Hale. John also leaves behind his dear sister, Shareen Pruitt and husband Alan of Fort Smith, Ark., and brothers, Billy Wilfong and wife, Jeanne of Fort Smith and Danny Wilfong and wife Janie of Norman, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, who will deeply miss him.
John's profound love for his family, coupled with his unwavering faith and kindness, will forever resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him. His memory will live on as a testament to a life well-lived and a spirit forever cherished.
