Larry Sparks Obituary

Larry James Sparks
July 18, 1950 – Sept. 30, 2025

Larry James Sparks, a devoted husband, father, and Papa, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 18, 1950, in Sallisaw, to Florence (Martin) Sparks and Earl Preston Sparks. Larry was married to Nancy Ann (Furner) Sparks on June 13, 1975, in Poteau.
At just 22 years old, Larry became a business owner in Sallisaw, where he proudly operated several businesses throughout his life. He also had a passion for raising Missouri Fox Trotters, something that brought him great joy, and he especially loved riding, a pastime that was close to his heart.
Larry never missed a moment with his family. Whether it was a child's performance, a grandchild's sporting event, or a dance recital, he was always there-beaming with pride. His presence and encouragement were gifts his family will always treasure. He also had a great sense of humor and quick wit, which filled his family's lives with laughter and warmth.
He will be remembered for his unwavering love, generosity, and dedication to those he cherished most.
Survivors are wife of 50 years, Nancy of the home; two daughters, Elizabeth Oberste of Sallisaw and Jamie Cleveland and Michael of Sallisaw; one son, Larry Michael Sparks of Sallisaw; grandchildren, Stephen Oberste, Matt Oberste and Casey, Ben Oberste, Bailey Oberste and her fiancé, Colton Burgess, Emma, Allie and Charlie Cleveland, and Max, Alex, and Jack Sparks; four great-grandchildren, Blair, Baker, Camden, and Carter; two sisters, Maxine Sparks of Sallisaw and Sandra Holman of Sallisaw; two brothers, Dale Sparks and Barbara of Sallisaw and Joe Sparks and Beverly of Sallisaw; two sisters-in-law, Rose Ann Furner of Fort Smith, Ark., and Coletta Furner of Lavaca, Ark.; brother-in-law, Stephen Furner and Debbie of Rogers, Ark.; and several loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Florence Sparks; one grandson, Michael James Cleveland; one sister and her husband, Earlene and Bob Barger; and three brothers-in-laws, Dale Holman, Bill Furner and Scott Furner.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, at Brushy Cemetery in Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc. Viewing will be 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw. The family will greet from 6 to 7 p.m.

Yesterday

Larry was my cousin. My grandfather and Larry´s dad were brothers. It´s been many years since I´ve seen Larry, but have thought about him and his sisters and brothers often. I have fond memories of my grandfather taking me over to play at their house. I loved this family and all the memories they give me in my heart. God Bless you all
