Harry Alfred Peshon

Harry A Peshon died on January 16th, one week after his 98th birthday. He was born in San Francisco to Harry A Peshon Sr and Catherine Stambuck Peshon. He graduated from George Washington High School in 1941. Watching the Golden Gate Bridge being built and walking across it on the first day inspired him to become a civil engineer. He attended SF City College for two years, then worked for two years including a job on the Alaska Highway in the Yukon Territory. He served in the Army for two years. Harry graduated from the University of California Berkeley College of Engineering in 1949. He spent 30 years working for Alameda County Public Works becoming Chief of Engineering and Architecture. He built hospitals, court houses, jails and libraries for Alameda County. He retired in 1984.

Harry married Evon Armstrong in 1952. They were married for 43 very happy years until her death in 1995. He said marrying Evon was the best thing he ever did as it gave him a wife, a family and a home - a home he lived in for 66 years. He enjoyed playing solitaire and sudoko, reading, California history, covered bridges, genealogy and collecting postcards. He was an avid fan of the Cal Bears, the 49ers and the Oakland As.

He is survived by his children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara Peshon Milne and his parents. He was a very kind, patient and loving father. The family would like to thank the Hospice nurses and the Honor staff for the wonderful and loving care they gave to Harry at the end of his life.
