Alex Simenc Obituary

Alex Simenc

Courageous and passionate to the end, Alex led a remarkable life. He was resolute and accomplished in his many roles including choir director, computer programmer, composer, gardener and fisherman. He was a man of great faith, and his devotion to his wife Dora can only be described as "true love". His legacy includes five children, 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. As the organist and choir director of the Church of the Nativity for over 60 years, he was a leader in the Slovene-American community. His impact will be lasting, his memory inspiring and his presence missed.

Mr Simenc's gift to life is the lovely family he has left.

We were truly sad to hear of Mr. Simenc's passing.

As a child, I fondly remember his playing of the organ for almost every important occasion in the lives of our family. I know that Saint Peter has called his good and faithful servant home to heaven.

And as he enter's the gate of eternal rest, a chorus of angels will greet him in song - Cessena si Marija - as it should be.

Fondly,
Andrew Martin and Cathy Petraiuolo and Family

Alex was a wonderful man who brought joy to many and greatly enriched the lives of the Nativity faithful. To see him with his wife and their beaming smiles was to observe a couple that understood love. To see him bask in the joy of all of his grandchildren seated at Church and afterwards was to see a man blessed with the wealth of a great family. This photo captures his essence.

Ales is to be emulated. His perseverance to relearn the organ, after his stroke, is a show of faith and strength.

I was fortunate to know him through The Church of Nativity. The choir was astounding for a community of so few people. His smile will be missed by many.

The Martin Family deeply mourns the loss of Alex Simenc. We were honored to be a part of Alex, his wife Dora and their beautiful family for the many years we attended The Church of the Nativity.

Through his musical talent and his passion for great liturgical composition, Alex brought tremendous joy to the Nativity community - his loss will be felt far and wide.

We pray that in the coming days and years ever after you will be forever comforted by the many cherished memories your father shared with your mother Dora and each of you throughout his lifetime.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. My life-long love of the organ started with the small Shoenstein instrument played by your father at Church of the Nativity. I thank your father for this gift and will remember him whenever I play.
