Ann Zorn Obituary
Ann Helen (Schwalbenberg) Zorn died suddenly of cardiac arrest on Friday, January 10th, while riding her horse near Fort Funston. Ann was off-the-charts "good" in both senses of the term: a kind-hearted, high-minded, generous, altruistic woman who also was exceptionally competent and purposeful.
Ann attended San Francisco's Presentation High School for three years and then graduated from Lowell. A Latin and Greek major at UC-Berkeley, Ann worked in information technology and proved an excellent administrator as well, not only on the job at the American Electronics Association, Levi-Strauss, Kaiser-Permanante, and the Or Shalom Jewish Community but also in her children's preschools, elementary and high schools. Ann never sought out leadership positions but regularly was given them by acclamation; she was the obvious choice.
Ann will be greatly missed by all those blessed to have known her, whose only consolation now is that she died painlessly doing something she loved. Ann is survived by her husband Jeff Zorn, children Sarah and Sam Zorn, brothers Michael and Peter Schwalbenberg, sisters Mary Seastrand, Cecilia Schwalbenberg, and Monica Schwalbenberg-Pena, nieces Jessica Shannon Finn, Emily Tibbetts, Anna Seastrand, and Ariana Schwalbenberg, and nephews Diego and Bill Schwalbenberg, Hal Tibbetts, and Alec Seastrand.
A memorial service for Ann will be held 11AM on Friday, January 17, at Temple Beth Israel Judea, 625 Brotherhood Way, San Francisco. Donations in Ann's name may be sent to the Or Shalom Jewish Community, 1250 Quintara Street, San Francisco, CA 94116.

We were so sad to hear of Ann's passing. I remember fondly the Silver Phoenix soccer days together and always enjoyed being on the sidelines together. Sorry we missed the memorial service as we were out of town. You are all in our thoughts.

Ann, we will all miss you! It was always such a pleasure to spend time with Ann. Her presence alleviated even the most contentious school meetings, but it was truly great to see her at any opportunity, whether on a slow, languorous afternoon at Camp Mather or simply running into her for a few moments in the neighborhood. Her reflection, in the positive influence she had on us all, will always be there. Our deepest condolences to Jeff, Sarah & Sam- we hope the many great memories are a comfort always.

Ann is an amazing, kind-hearted, generous and wise woman who mentored and taught me many lessons during my time with her. I left today's beautiful memorial service sad but inspired. Ann sure made the most of her time here and leaves an enormous, positive impact on family, friends and community. Her example shows us all what a person who is passionate, positive and organized can accomplish. I know her memory will stay strong with us always.

Ann and I worked together at AEA and I was fortunate to spend time with her at a holiday party on December 28.
I have one memory that means a lot to me. Ann, Margaret and I were in the elevator at AEA when Ann announced that she met a man. She was so excited. She and Jeff were married on the same day as my son and we were able to attend their wedding early in the day.
Ann was so special.

The world has lost a beautiful human being in Ann. She carried herself with such grace and quiet intelligence. We met at our children's elementary school where I was amazed by her dedication and hard work as treasurer of the school's parent association. She was thoughtful and always offered up suggestions that were well-thought out. She was pragmatic but had just the right amount of idealism that never felt preachy. She was a great listener in a world that could use a whole lot more of them. I'm really going to miss Ann but feel very fortunate to have many wonderful memories of her at Camp Mather, hiking up behind UCSF, and chatting over a cup of coffee and pastries. I just wish we could have had that one last coffee together that we promised we would have. My thoughts and love go out to Jeff, Sarah and Sam.

I was a fellow parent and Parent Association member/officer with Ann at Alice Fong Yu School, I will always remember Ann's clear, analytical, rational and calm thinking/speaking in our many PA meetings. Even after AFY, whenever I bumped into Ann, we chatted, and the years quickly melted away.

I had the privilege of knowing Ann for 25 years, and she was one of the most intelligent, caring, well-balanced people I've ever known. I will miss her terribly. My heart goes out to Jeff, Sarah and Sam.
