Indeed deeply saddened to hear this news
We were in the same class in PAF school Karachi, and DJ college. We spent a lot of time specially studying together in DJ college.
Although lately was not in much contact but he still was in the list of very close friends.
May Allah keep his soul in peace

Even after two years I find it hard to imagine that Arif is not around. We were classmates in school from Grade 5 to 10. Unfortunately, I never saw him after school. Once while visiting Philadelphia, I looked him up in the phone directory and found his contact details, but alas he was not around to take the call. I regret not having made another effort to see him. He remains the most admired friend I have ever had. He is the most talked about person among his school friends. All because he was a genuinely good and generous human being, immensely talented and extraordinarily intelligent, yet the most humble person you'd ever meet.

Happy times

July 5, 2015

I am shocked and grieved to read of Arif's death. He saved my life in 2004 through a brilliant diagnosis of a growing pancreatic cyst which he successfully removed. He became more than my friend, he became my friend. He would call me in the wee hours of the morning when he was troubled. I felt like his second mother. We shared dinners, philosopying, and lots of laughter. Even when he was stuck in London on a VISA issue, he called me 3 times to talk through his frustration. When he finally closed his practice in Bakersfield after a serious health issue, he still kept in touch at least twice a year, and I always contacted him on his birthday. Last January, my call was unreturned, now I realize why. I had visited him the October before on a visit to Berkeley and we had a lovely dinner. He seemed so pleased with the clinic and his life. How sad I feel to know that was the last time I'd be in his radiant presence. I pray you have found peace, my friend.

Arif was a very kind and loving person. He wanted nothing but the best for his patients. He was quirky (in a good and interesting way) and had a great sense of humor. He was very compassionate. He helped me through THE toughest time in my life and didn't blink an eye. He was a rock and I will never forget him for that. I can't seem to wrap my mind around all of this. Arif, I am happy that our paths crossed in this life.

We studied together in the same section from grade 6 to grade 10 in PAF Model School, Sharae Faisal, Karachi. He was my hero during that time as he used to demonstrate his brilliance and sheer talent on numerous occasions. I never recall any instance that he had missed the first rank in any of the monthly, half yearly or final examinations. Not only he secured first positions throughout but his marks stayed way ahead of others. Only Adnan Ansari used to get closer. He and his ttwin brother Asif Amin Khan, also our classmate used to give the entire class a treat on their birthday that used to fall on Januray 10th. Arif would always be remembered as a genius who touched many hearts. May your soul rests in eternal peace, my late classmate.
