Arnold Vezzani

Arnold David Vezzani

93, of Los Altos, passed away June 22, 2013, with family at his side. Born in San Francisco on May 26, 1920, to John and Albonea Vezzani, Arnie was an avid sportsman throughout his years at Mission High School and San Francisco State University. In 2010, Arnie was inducted into the SF State Gator Sports Hall of Fame, when they discovered his still-unbeaten batting average of .455. During his junior and senior years, he worked swing shift as a ship fitter at Bethlehem Steel, all while competing on the varsity baseball and soccer teams, captaining the debate team, and serving as senior class president and valedictorian.

After graduating in 1942, Arnie enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as deck officer of the Destroyer USS Balch, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After four years of service, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant. Following his military service, he attended Stanford University, earning an M.A. in Educational Administration and a General Administrative Credential. He taught for four years, and then started his own lithographic printing business, which he ran from 1953- 1978

He will be missed by his wife of 29 years, Elizabeth, and his extended family and relatives.
