Barbara was a lively quick witted woman living her life to the fullest. She traveled the world and explored the universe. She treated everyone with good humor and respect. She sold real estate and managed her own portfolio of properties. She always had 2 jobs. Barbara was Teamster Shop Steward and president of the credit union when she retired from Mothers Cakes and Cookies. In retirement she taught computer skills to seniors and was director of the race walking association. Her home office walls are covered with race bibs and medals. Nothing slowed her down until she was diagnosed with MDS in June 2012. Even then she was determined to keep up her pace with social events, baseball games, Tahoe gambling and the theatre. Mother of Erica, Lance (wife Melody) Ramona, Mark (wife Juliann) and 3 grandsons and 1 step granddaughter: Peter (Ramona), Robert and Matthew (Mark), Blythe (Lance). She is also survived by brother David and friends Linda, Frankie, and Geneva. Hank, ex-husband predeceased her in 2005. Viewing March 23, 2013 11am-2pm Chapel of the Chimes . Please NO FLOWERS. I was a tenant of Barbara's in Sacramento and just learned of her passing. She was the best landlord I ever rented from. A no-nonsense woman who couldn't hide her huge heart. She rewarded effort and honesty with understanding and compassion. I always looked forward to her visits to the property; which most people couldn't say of a landlord! We had some very enjoyable spirited and inspiring conversations. I am happy to have known her. My condolences to her friends and family.

I remember when I first started at Mothers, Barbara with her stern face and strict rules regarding the mail room scarred me. But I soon learned that Barbara had a heart of gold. She was always helpful and full of knowledge. She was a beautiful, healthy, strong
woman who many respected as
a role model. She will be greatly missed. Love you Barbara, rest in peace
