Barbara Sonsini Obituary
Nov. 7, 1939 - Nov. 28, 2018
Barbara Condon Sonsini, the wife of Larry Sonsini, a Founder and Senior Partner of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, died on November 28, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was 79 years old. The cause of death is ovarian cancer, which was diagnosed in June of this past year.Barbara was born in San Francisco on November 7, 1939 to Colonel John Condon and Betty Condon of San Mateo. Her grandfather, Charles G. Harvey, attended the U.S. States Military Academy at West Point at the same time as General Douglas MacArthur and served with him in the Philippines during World War II. Barbara graduated from Pomona College and received a Masters of Education from Stanford University. She also studied in Geneva, Vienna, and Mexico. For many years, she taught German and French at Cupertino High School in California.
Barbara grew up an avid tennis player, competing in several junior tournaments in her youth. Later, she became a devoted and accomplished bridge player, accumulating over 7,500 masterpoints in a relatively short time, while playing in several regional and national tournaments, as well as the World Bridge Team Championships in Indonesia in 2013.
Barbara is survived by her husband Larry, daughter Alison, stepsons Matthew and Peter, and eight wonderful grandchildren. Her sister, Joan Condon Paul, passed away in 2016.

Barbara was such a classy lady, one who struck awe into the heart of a Central Valley girl when I came to teach at CHS in 1969. Her huge heart and ready smile were welcoming and inspirational. She took me under her wing and made me feel like I mattered. What a gift Barbara was to all who knew her and her inspiration continues unto this day.

Such sad news. She was my French teacher at Cupertino High in 1978-80. I have fond memories of her and loved her flair for fashion too. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I fondly remember Ms. Condon, my French teacher at Cupertino High School. Her love of foreign languages encouraged my own interests and I thank her for an introduction to a much larger world apart from our high school lives. There are many former students who have also not forgotten such a lovely person and such a wonderful teacher. My condolences to her loving family. She is surely greatly missed.

I first met Barbara through a group of avid tennis players in the mid 70's. We continued our love of the game and later became friends again at Sharon Heights Golf & CC. We had some great times together, and I will miss her sense of humor and style!

Im so sad to have learned that we lost Barbara. She was such a inspiring woman, and a wonderful friend to me. I feel very lucky to have gotten to know her, and enjoy her friendship for all these years. I pray for you and your whole family, for strength during these sad and trying times. I had the privilege to play bridge against Barbara and she was always a class act... she was friendly, generous and happy to see everyone. She never took herself or the gam too seriously. We will miss her warmth and smiles. But, in heaven, every hand is 7NT.
