Benjamin Picetti Obituary

Benjamin M. Picetti
June 12, 1928 - February 7, 2024
Dr. Benjamin Mateo Picetti, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in San Francisco, Calif., on February 7, 2024 after a brief hospitalization, he was 96 years old.
Born June 12, 1928 in San Francisco, Calif., Dr. Picetti graduated from Stanford University School of Medicine in 1955, after receiving his bachelor's degree in Biology from University of California, Berkeley in 1951. He served in the US Air Force in Fairbanks, Alaska for two years from 1955 to 1957, and thereafter became a renowned refractive surgeon. He had been in Ophthalmology Private Practice for more than 40 years, healing countless patients with his professional expertise and caring nature. After retirement in 1998, he continued to work part-time at San Francisco Jewish Home for several years, treating elderly patients with various eye diseases. Quiet and reserved but full of life and resolve, he was loved by all who knew him personally and professionally. Dr. Picetti had a genuinely kind heart and angelic soul and he will be forever missed.
Dr. Picetti is survived by his soulmate and loving husband, James Picetti, who took great care of him for many years till his death; he is also survived by his magnificent canine companion, Booboo, who was a joy in his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Mateo Picetti, Sr. in 1968; and mother, Helen Janetsky Picetti in 2000.
