Bernice Granucci Obituary

Bernice Marie Granucci August 25, 1910 - March 12, 2010 Joined her beloved husband Ernie, and many relatives and friends in rest after nearly 100 blessed years. Bernice was a third generation San Franciscan born in North Beach in 1910 to Peter and Carmeline Leveroni, sister to Edmund (deceased) and Yvonne. She graduated from St. Brigid School and married Ernest Granucci at Saints Peter & Paul Church in 1936. She devoted herself to being a full-time mother and homemaker and took great pleasure in cooking for her family. Other joys in her life included winning bridge games with her condominium friends until age 99, knitting, participating in family activities and caring for children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After Ernie's passing in 1976, Bernice moved to Burlingame and lived independently with the assistance of family members and friends, especially Richard Casey. Last month she moved to Parkside Care home, where she received constant loving care. She loved life and never felt "old." She attributed her longevity and youthfulness to positive thinking, fresh vegetables and simple living. 'Nonnie' Bernice is survived by her son, Gerard (Jerry) and daughter-in-law Marilyn, grandchildren, Lisa (Mark McClenahan), Gerard II (Ellen Meijers), and Nicole (Dan Quinn), great-grandchildren, Mariel and Tierney McClenahan and Liam and Declan Quinn, and sister, Yvonne Vattuone, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 27th at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1310 Bayswater Ave, Burlingame, CA 94010. Private interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, CA. In lieu of flowers (which are not permitted in church during Holy Week), the family requests memorial contributions to Mercy Center of Burlingame (www.mercy-center.org), or Santa Clara University (www.scu.edu).

Jerry,
We just heard about your Mom. No matter how old our mom's are it is still tough to lose them. There is no easy way to let go.
We cannot attend the mass this Saturday at St. Catherine's but will keep all of you in our prayers,
sincerely,
Joey and Mike Peterson
