Betty Connell Eberhardt passed away December 4, 2022 in El Cerrito, California. She was 94 years old. Betty was the loving mother of Colleen, Kevin (Christine), Peggy and Jacqueline; and caring grandmother to grandson, Jacob.
Betty was born in Snohomish, Washington on September 17, 1928, to Frances Nisich Miller and Carl Menrad Miller. She was a loving sister to Carl Jr., Peggy, Louise, Frances, twin sister Elsie and Robert.
After her father's death when she was 17, she went to work at Sears Roebuck in Seattle, Washington, to help support her mother and to pay for her high school tuition. In 1947, she graduated with honors from Immaculate Conception High School in Seattle. From 1947-1949, she worked as a telephone operator for Pac Bell in Seattle. In 1949, she moved to San Francisco with her sister Lou, and continued working for Pac Bell. She married Jack Maurice Connell in 1956; together they had three daughters and one son.
After the death of her husband Jack, she spent 18 years working for the City and County of San Francisco, in the City Attorney's Office, the Real Estate Department, and the Department of Parks and Recreation. She fulfilled various roles including Superior Court Clerk and Marriage Commissioner for the City of San Francisco.
After her retirement in 1992, Betty was active in the Park Presidio Lions Club, where she served as vice president for several years, and in the San Francisco Geranium Society, where she served as treasurer. She belonged to the St. Gabriel Ladies Sodality since 1956. She married Martin Eberhardt in 1996 and enjoyed seven years of marriage to him before he passed in 2003.
An outgoing person who loved music, dancing, entertaining and socializing with her many friends, Betty was also an accomplished seamstress and cook. She was a proud resident of San Francisco, a city she truly loved, and a devout parishioner at St. Gabriel Church. She had a strong work ethic and she believed in the importance of education, kindness, and personal integrity.
Friends may visit on Wednesday, December 14 from 4-8pm and attend a Vigil at 6pm at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 15 at 11am at St. Gabriel Chruch, 2559 40th Ave., San Francisco. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.
