Just A Picture in a Frame
A face stares out from a picture,
Light is caught, a moment is frozen, a life sealed
Behind glass.
Yet a concentrated focus, a loving remembrance can
propel and transport one beyond that two dimensional
image. What is frozen, hardened, the world we call
the real, is not the form or place where a life is
revealed.
The image, caught between the real and a soul lit
moment, cries out for the voice of memories to be
delivered to a fuller life.
Death, an uninspired photographer, takes an
incomplete picture. His portraitures leave something
out. Intimate moments where momories are shaped
be it a laugh, smile, or a single word. Death cannot
create only finalize; therefore something is always
missing. For death bears empty gifts; remembrance
cannot flower when contemplating a vacuum.
A photographs beauty resides in its inability to
forget. It grabs the moment, that particular unique
instant. What was for the camera, is. It frames an
event, a timeless moment, a face, perhaps an
expressionless sorrow. And too, the camera having no
memory softens the image and tracing the lines of
raw truth, transmutes what was, into what will always
be, an everlasting cube of truth. Those of us who
view these previous moments, rejoice and sorrow at
their revelation, wonder and remember.
This was written by my Uncle Dan Nosj=ky when my sister Mary Kuftedjian passed away. I've found solice in this piece and I wanted to share it with the Bordin family as they grieve for the loss of their precious Bob Bordin.

Just wanted to send a note of condolence to your family...I didn't know Bob but would see him everyday driving back and forth in his truck...always smiling and giving the right of way...when I saw the news coverage, I thought it might be him but hoped it was not...unfortunately, I now see new drivers in his truck...a little part of my everyday is gone...I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Aileen, Danny, Kelly and Michelle, I first met Bob when I was transferred to the SF bldg. He was one of the 1st persons I met there. He was always friendly and so funny. He was a driver then and I only saw him in the morning. When he changed to Feeder, I saw him throughout the morning. He would stop at everyone's station and chit chat. Lots of teasing and telling funny stories. When he would tell his funny stories, he would laugh so much you almost didn't get the ending. He had many expressions that he would say, "I don't think so", "OK???", "Unbelievable". But my favorite was "What's the matter with you!!!" I truly miss him. He came to work everyday with a smile and after talking with him, you left with a smile. He touched so many people here at UPS and I was lucky to have met him and have him as a friend. My heart goes out to you. Rene Trujillo

Aileen and family, I haven't seen you or Bob in so many years but you are both so much a part of my past, being my older brothers close friends. Dear Aileen,
I'm lost for words for tonights services, holding back the tears only to have Kelly & Michelle sermon their dad's good times, only to have the laughter finally forcing them out. I can't begin to say I'm sorry for your lost. I just would like for you to know that their is a special place in my heart and mind for "the Babe". With out a doubt with all the pews filled and standing room along the walls "the Babe" shows he has touched many, including myself. I've never expericened this emotion and impact he has left on me, my prayers are with you and the entire Bordin Family may our faith in GOD get us through these difficult times.

Uncle Bob,
I don’t know why God chose to take you from us so young. There were still many more vacations together, holidays to share, sighs to have, laughs to laugh, hugs to give and memories to make. The family will never be the same without you. You were such a fixture in our family that everyone loved having around. You made us all smile and laugh with you and a lot of times at you. But you never seemed to mind. You are a one-of-a-kind-son, husband, brother, dad, uncle and friend. You gave all you had to each one of us and we will always be thankful for each and every minute we shared with you. We all promise to carry on your spirit and take care of each other as you would have done for us. You’ll always hold a place in my heart Uncle Bob.
Auntie Aileen, Danny, Kelly, Michelle & Gerren, It’s just not right to see you all have to go through this. I know nothing anyone can say or do will ease the horrific pain of your loss, but may you find some comfort in this poem a friend shared with me:
For each thorn, there's a rosebud...
for each twilight — a dawn...
for each trial — the strength to carry on,
For each storm cloud — a rainbow...
for each shadow — the sun...
for each parting — sweet memories
when sorrow is done.
—R.W. Emerson
So cry, yell, scream...and then bask in all the wonderful, sweet memories you were able to capture with Bob and dad.
All my love,
Erin

Aileen! So sorry to hear about Bobby. Memories of our St. Michael's days flashed before me when I heard the news. He was such a great guy. And always made everyone laugh, even way back then. My deepest sympathy to all of the family. When I heard the news in the morning and saw the truck involved, I had a bad feeling. That feeling was confirmed when I went in to work. Bob had probably the least stressful job (if that exists) at UPS and whenever he took time off, management knew that whoever filled in for him would take 3 times as long to do his job. Nobody could "spot" the trailers like Bob could and I used to just sit there and watch him work his magic in that little tiny building. It is a devastating blow to all UPSers that knew him and he is greatly missed by all of us. When we lose someone at UPS, it is like we have lost a member of our own family. Rest In Peace Bob....In many opinions, the best "Yard Dog" that ever worked at UPS-SF.

Aileen,
I've been sitting here the last few days in shock, but thinking of all the great times I've shared with both of you. Bob,Tom,and myself playing poker or kismet or Friday nights at Denny,s drinking coffee and telling jokes.Who could forget Bob asking us 4 times a night "Babe tell the woodeye joke again" and then he'd laugh like it was the first time he'd ever heard it. I'll always remember doubling to the senior prom with you and Bob. I will really miss Bob, the original 'honeydew', but I have so many wonderful memories to keep forever.

Aileen and family, We've never met, but I went to St. Michael's Grammar School with Bob many, many years ago and I want you to know that I have lots of memories of what a nice guy he was. My husband, Steve Tognotti, didn't go to school with him but remembers him from growing up in the same neighborhood and he, too, remembers what a great guy he was, always with a friendly smile. So it sounds like he just kept getting better and better as time went on. I'm sure he'll be greatly missed; so cherish your precious memories of your husband/dad. Our heartfelt sympathy on your profound loss.

Dear Aileen,kelly,michelle,danny.
My heart goes out to you all.
His friendship was always cherished and I know that things will never be the same without him. He was one you could always count on to help you through anything, and made the days at work, worth even showing up for. He could always take all of my practical jokes so well, and he never gave up on trying to make you laugh. Life will change for us all, and the memories of a great friend will last a lifetime.
Warmest and loving thoughts.... Bridgett

Aileen,
I remember bumping into you over Christmas at Orchard Hardware and catching up on the years since we had last seen each other. We talked about each of us being married for over 30 years. I could tell that life was good and that you and your husband were happily married and shared a fun family life. I remember thinking how happy I was for you. I even talked about running into you with my sisters who had also attended OLM.
Today I learned that your husband died suddenly. I am sad to hear that. I want you to know how my heart goes out to you. I know he must have been a good man from just hearing you talk about him. I will keep Bob, you and all your family in my prayers.

The Bordin Family,
My deepest and heartfelt sympathies go out to you all in this tragic time. Though I did not know Bob, I can imagine, just from knowing his children, that he was a loving and beautiful person. My brother, a fellow UPS driver, shared with me a little about his character and expressed to me what true loss it is.
I wish you peace and love and the strength to go on.

Wow, as we sit in disbelief. Babe you were someone to alot of people. Someone you could always count on, and was always there. One of the guys you were going to grow old with. From "YOUR" room in your house ( that we feel priviledged that you shared with us) to our very early morining phone calls from your office in the lower yard (THE SHIFTER), to the stories about your daughter's cat "Benedetto". There are just no words to describe how much we will miss you. Your a class act, and a stand up guy. Babe your the best! Everytme we hear the word "Babe" it will forever bring a smile to our faces. You will be missed, but never forgotten. - "Salute a una bella vita, ci vediamo in paradiso!!!" Love Gaetano & Cindy D'Amato
