Bruce Berg intensely, quietly pursued what he loved: building as a contractor and architect; exploring the outdoors: climbing, skiing, backpacking, and distance cycling (randonneuring), crafting furniture, baking pies for family and friends. As a teacher at Pinel, contractor with his own company Berg Construction, architect at Christopherson & Graff, and Ratcliff, he was a dedicated mentor. In 2016 he was named national Randonneur of the Year. His favorite ride was cycling Paris-Brest-Paris in 2003 for 750 miles in 3.5 days. Bruce grew up in Highland Park, IL, graduated from CU Boulder 1969, and lived in Berkeley since 1970. He is survived by his wife Linda Artel, brother Stephen Berg, son James Berg, daughter-in-law Miriam Sorell and grandson Avi. My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Bruce. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure that fill your heart with love and brings you joy. May you find comfort in Jesus promise of the hope of everlasting life at John 6:40.
