Carmen Herrero Obituary
HERRERO (nee Ramos), Carmen R., 100, passed away in San Antonio, TX on February 25, 2025. Carmen was born in Hong Kong in 1924 and married her husband, Manuel M. Herrero, whom she dearly loved in Lourenço Marques, Mozambique in 1951. Carmen is survived by her son, Jose Herrero and wife, Penny; daughter, Christina Herrero-Backe and husband, Brian Backe; grandchildren, Jeremy Herrero and wife, Norah, Gordon Herrero, Sean Backe and wife, Sarah, Karen Backe and husband, Jon Belisario, and Benjamin Backe; and great-grandchildren, Molly Backe, Emma Backe, and Thomas Backe. Carmen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manuel M. Herrero; brother-in-law, Ramon Herrero; sisters-in-law, Matilde Gaspar and Carmen Herrero; and her siblings Mercia Westwood and husband Wally, John Ramos and wife, Amalia, Mario Ramos and wife, Betty, and Estella James and husband, Ian. Carmen was greatly loved and she will be missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend a service on Wednesday, March 26, at 10:00 a.m. at the McAvoy O'Hara and Evergreen Mortuary, 4545 Geary Blvd., San Francisco, CA, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
