Carolyn Quinn Obituary

Carolyn Luise Huber Quinn 1929- 2011 Carolyn Quinn passed away June 8, 2011 following a brief illness. Born to Luise and Albert Huber on May 22, 1929 in San Francisco, she was a devoted wife to Boyd Quinn for nearly 60 years; adoring mother to Jim (Marsha), Sue (Brian), Lori (Jeffrey); an enthusiastic and loving grandmother to Sean (Julia), Lauren (Tristan), Cullen, Erik, Laura, Katie, Madeleine and Abigail. Carolyn is also survived by her brother, Albert (Sonny) Huber Jr. and five nieces and nephews. Affectionately referred to as "Toots" by her family and many close friends, Carolyn lived nearly all of her life in Marin County, attending Ross School and Tamalpais High School. In 1951, she graduated from UC Berkeley/College of Environmental Design with a BA in Decorative Arts. Carolyn's creativity defined her and coupled with her industrious nature she was rarely without a meaningful project in hand-Carolyn was the master of every detail, evident in both her home and garden. She appreciated the many friendships and connections made through her close affiliation with Pi Beta Phi, her bridge groups and Sunny Hills Junior Auxiliary. In her youth, Carolyn was a ballet dancer; she played tennis for many years and hiked throughout her life in Yosemite. Her vacation home in Rubicon Bay at Lake Tahoe remained her most treasured spot in the world and is the place where dear friends and family convene. Carolyn will be deeply missed by so many and remembered for her incomparable warmth, grace, individual style, opinions and exuberant laugh. Friends and family are invited to a memorial on Monday July 11, 2011 at 4pm. Marin Art & Garden Center 30 Sir Francis Drake Blvd, Ross. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn's memory may be sent to: Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, 14 Pennsylvania Plaza, Suite 1400, New York, NY 10122, www.ocrf.org Yosemite Conservancy, 101 Montgomery Street, Suite 1700, San Francisco, CA 94104 www.yosemiteconservancy.org

Dear Mr. Quinn, Jim, Sue and Lori...and all the wonderful grand kids, nieces and nephews of Carolyn Quinn...I am so sorry to hear of her passing. Please know how much the entire Quinn family meant to me while growing up next door to you in Greenbrae.

Carolyn was one of the most vibrant people I have ever met - and a stunning beauty - inside and out...I wish you all peace in the months to come - as I am sure you are all reeling in the pain of missing such a wonderful wife, mom, sister, grand mom and aunt...I am with you in your loss, and wish we all never had to pass on.

I know she left this world a better place than if she never were here. We are all so lucky to have known and loved Carolyn Quinn.

Blessings, Haynes Abney RajBhandary

Jim, Sue and Lori... I was so sorry to read today that your mother had passed. I have such fond memories of her smile, laugh and genuine sweet nature that she displayed toward me and others. I will always remember the fun times we had both at Tahoe and Greenbrae. She was a wonderful woman. Sincerely, Linda Eggers De Vincenzo
