Catherine Caufield Obituary

Catherine Lallande Caufield June 4, 1917 - October 24, 2010 Catherine passed away peacefully in her San Francisco home at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Brigadier General Frank J. Caufield and is survived by her three children, Frank, Catherine and Caroline, and four grandchildren, Frank Robert, Kirsten, Matthew and Katherine. Catherine was born in New Orleans and grew up in Puerto Rico. She attended Sophie Newcombe College in New Orleans and married in 1938. As an Army wife, she lived in many places in the United States, as well as in Spain, London, and Germany. In 1967, after General Caufield's retirement, the family settled in San Francisco. Catherine had many friends of all ages, who enjoyed her sense of humor, her graciousness and her lively conversation. She enjoyed travel, reading, music and art. She was surrounded by her devoted family at the time of her death. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday November 1st at 11 a.m. at St. Monica's Church in San Francisco. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Anthony Foundation, 150 Golden Gate Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94102.
