CATHERINE PHILLIPS Obituary

Catherine Beringer Phillips Catherine Beringer Phillips age 98, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 15, 2012. She was a native of San Francisco, born March 9, 1914 to the late Albert and Almedia Beringer. Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Donnel B. Phillips for 58 years. She was the devoted mother of Mark Bruce Phillips and Michele (Chiharu) Phillips Maloney, the loving grandmother of Ryann Nicole and Kevin Chiharu Maloney, the loving sister of the late Leland (Almaclair) Beringer, and the loving aunt of Barry (Rita) Beringer. Catherine attended Lowell High School, and graduated from U.C. Berkeley, class of 1936 with honors. She was a high school teacher in the San Francisco Unified School District for 32 years, with the major portion of her teaching career at Mission High School. Catherine will be remembered for her love of round dancing, reading, roses and Sees Candy. Her family is grateful for the loving care she received from Mulu, Lucy and Yan. A special heartfelt thanks to Doctor Steven Pantilat, an extraordinary doctor to say the least. Catherine was blessed to have such wonderful people in her life. Friends may visit Friday June 22nd, 6pm to 9pm followed by a celebration of Life Service Saturday 12noon, all at Duggan Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave. Daly City. Committal will be at Cypress Lawn Cemetery following the service.
