I am so very sorry to hear about Charlie's passing. It took me by total surprise after being in contact with Cindy via e-mail a couple of months ago. I will always remember Charlie as the perfect father and husband, not to mention one of the kindest people I ever new in my childhood.

Our sincere condolences to the Passanissi family from your cousins in Perth, Western Australia. Charlie was a wonderful man who always made us feel very welcome! From our first meeting with Charlie, his kindness and willingness to please just stood out. The first firehouse that I was assigned to was Engine 25 in 1975. I walked into a world of great men and toubled times. The Southeast section of the City was always an experience. The one constant during all those years was seeing the smiling face of Charlie. "Gee-Yi-Yi!" or "You Got to Be Kidding!" was followed by an infectious laugh and an arm around your shoulder.
Met many firefighters in 32 years. No one, and I mean no one, a better person or friend than Charlie. Will miss you everyday!

Some of my fondest memories are when Charlie was walking down Canterbury with Dominic or the years we spent in Santa Rosa at The Flamingo. In more than 24 years in the fire department, I've had the good fortune of meeting and working with some wonderful individuals. Charlie Passanisi stands out as the nicest I ever met. I don't find it right to say goodbye to my Uncle Charlie, nor have I accepted the fact that his physical presence will no longer exist.
To say that he was the most humble and nurturing human being I have ever known in my life is an understatement.
His genuine gift of acceptance towards others was to be admired and I will miss his presence immensely.
My heart goes out to the Passanisi Family for their incredible loss.
May they find some comfort in knowing that they will reunite with him again after this life.

Dear Mary, Cindy, Steve, Karen and Jennine,
how very very sorry I am that papa is gone. I think about him everynight before I go to sleep, and wake up with him in my thoughts. He was a wonderful man who was loved and admired by all. I still find it hard to believe that he has gone to heaven. When I go up to grandma's and papa's, I expect to see him and realize that I won't. I am so blessed that John and Nick have had him in their lives. He was such a wonderful role model for them, and he still will always be. They love him so very much. We were all truly lucky to have him in our lives. You filled his heart with pride and love. He was so proud of his family. I'm sure he's looking down on you right now and seeing the love and support that you all giving to one another. What a beautiful thing! Dear Papa,
you will be truly missed. You were such a great man. I know there is not person I can think of that you didn't welcome with open arms. I have only known you for fifteen years but in those fifteen years you had such a great impact on my life, you always made me want to be a better person and you have touched my heart more than most people ever will. So many people say that I look a lot like you, the big wrists, big hands and of course the big shoulders, this is one of the greatest compliments I have ever received, and if I'm lucky I will have your personality and your kindness and your generosity. One last thing, God hes a lucky guy he has just receieved another Saint, but why my Saint? He has so many of his own. So all there is left to say is nothing will ever be the same without you, especially Thanksgiving. I could die for your turkey.

You made everyone feel welcome no matter if you were a new firefighter detailed to a different firehouse, a guest at a party or a visitor in your home you welcomed us with open arms. Dearest Passanisi Family,
I consider myself to be a very blessed man because I was able to spend some great times with Charlie.
I was fortunate enough to meet this kind and friendly man through my dear friend Brian Harrison.
I was often invited to many of the of the Family gatherings. Although I was not family, Charlie was always one of the first to greet me and make me feel very welcome. Then he would tell me to eat more.
My thoughts and prayers go out to each an every one of you who's lives were touched by his gentle spirit.
Be strong and know that he has not left us, he lives on forever in each of us.

The parties, the River, the food, the weddings, the helloooo and smiles from Charlie and Mary. Charlie was my mentor and idol in my early years. Even though he was not my paternal father, I still considered him to be my "special" uncle. I was blessed to be part of your family on so many occasions in my youth. The terrible sadness and emptiness that I'm feeling must pale in comparison to yours. Charlie was one of a kind. Memories of sitting around and listening to his latest horse racing betting stratagies, playing "ah heck" and waiting for his famous battlecry, "LET ME IN", or playing ping pong for hours at Camp Mather, are just a few of the moments I will always cherish. We lost one of the Gods special ones today, but through you, his legacy lives.

Dear Passanisi Family,
We were sorry to hear about Charlie's passing. Leo remembers the days growing up with the Passanisi family. We were so close in those days and watched each others families grow over the years.
Leo fondly remembers Charlie as a sergeant in the National Guard and his experiences with him in the Mohave Desert. Also, the great night basketball games he played with Charlie and his buddies at Galileo High School.
More recently, we saw Charlie on and off in Millbrae at Leonardo's Deli and enjoyed eating lunch with him when he was working for Hertz.
Charlie was, indeed, a kind person and would always be there if you needed a helping hand.
Though we have lost touch since our move to Roseville, we fondly recall Charlie and the Passanisi family
as a vital part of our early days, and cherish the memories of those very special times.

My Uncle Charlie was a very special person whose kindness, warmth and compassion were unmatched. I have many wonderful memories of Charlie but the amazing Italian dinners that he prepared and shared with his family and friends are at the top of my list. Charlie always made you feel welcome and was never too busy to discuss the fate of the 49ers or to seek your opinion on a local political event. Uncle Charlie I will miss you very much!

He had the unique nature of always being pleasant...
It is unfortunate that his type of nature was so unique.
I feel I was blessed to have encountered him in the path of my life. He always seemed pleasantly, and graciously at peace the times I was with him. He was one of a few people you meet in life that had that special gift.

I first met Charlie Passanisi on June 19, 1954, he later became my brother-in-law on August 21, 1955. I cannot imagine life in the Harrison Family without "Charlie". He was by far the kindest and most caring person I have ever known in my life. He will be unbelievably missed at family social functions as the "greeter" always there with open arms and a warm hug. I will miss Charlie dearly but I know Heaven is now a better place with Charlie there and we will meet again.

Dear Passanisi Family,
I worked a couple of tours with Charlie in various spots in the department. I always enjoyed my day with Charlie. He was, as you say a great, sweet and genlte man. I'd like to add that he was a great fireman who enjoyed the fire department as his second family. We had many great and long conversations together. Although we worked only a few times, I always felt that I knew him as a brother.

Although I only had the pleasure of meeting Charlie on a handful of occasions, I was deeply impressed with what an exceedingly good man he was. At every occasion our paths crossed, he had a kind word, a warm smile, and a genuine grace about him that left a profound impression.
