Charlotte Thompson Obituary
September 5, 1928 - May 27, 2023
Dr. Charlotte Thompson, née Charlotte Lucille Ellis in Colorado Springs, died peacefully after a full life devoted to the care of children as a pediatrician, author and teacher. After graduating from Stanford Medical School, she ran a clinic for disabled children, the start of a lifelong commitment to helping children with neuromuscular disorders. In 1963, Charlotte opened a pediatric practice in La Jolla while raising her two children. Once her children graduated high school, she moved back to her beloved San Francisco, found a house with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge and opened the Center for Handicapped Children. Charlotte authored ten books, including Raising a Child with a Neuromuscular Disorder, and relished teaching medical students well into her eighties as a faculty member of UC San Diego. Her generous spirit will be dearly missed.

Our condolences to Jeffrey, her beloved grand kids Alexander and Heather and other friends and relatives.
Charlotte was a wonderful sister to her brother Keith who lived in Las Vegas. We were Keith´s neighbors and became friends even after Keith passed away. She was such a positive and loving person to all she met. You will be missed by us dear friend.

Dr Thompson was the Dr. That did the biopsy on our baby Korie in Nov 1984 n confirm she had Werdnig Hoffman disease .the Dr was also able to reference us a family who had gone through what we were going through. She was a compassionate Dr. And won´t forget her I have 2 of her books My condolences thank you

Dr Thompson cared for our babies when they were born over 50 years ago. She was a wonderful doctor and friend. Our oldest is a pediatrician and Dr Thompson was so encouraging to her. Charlotte will be missed.
