Chris Wing Obituary
Age 48, was called to heaven on Dec 1, 2013.
As a native San Franciscan, Chris attended Sacred Heart HS and graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Econ. He began his hotel career at the Holiday Inn Financial District and worked his way to Guest Services Manager at the Marriott Union Square, where he recently received his 25-year service award. He was dedicated, respected and well-liked. He spent time with family and friends and especially liked to hunt and fish with his dad. He was kind, humorous, thoughtful and had a positive outlook on life. We will miss him immensely.
Chris was the loving son of Frank and Anita (deceased) Wing; good-natured younger brother of Leslie, Bucky, J and Val; brother-in-law of Bart; and caring uncle to Jared, Craig and Kianna. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services will be held Sat., Jan 4, 2014, 10am, Grace Cathedral Church, 1100 California, SF. A luncheon Celebration of his Life will be held for family & friends at 1pm. Email: [email protected] for info.

It´s been over 11 years since your passing. Your absence has had a profound effect on all of us and not surprisingly, but especially Dad.
Maybe you already know this but Dad misses you terribly. You were there to help him whenever he needed a helping hand whether it was for his work or otherwise.
Last week, on Thursday, September 26, 2024, we were near the backyard and he said ... he would take some of your ashes and put them in the backyard. This way, you will finally be home.
We really miss you, but most of all, Dad misses you.

Today I walked past all the places we used to hang out. Tower Records was still around then. Cheap noodles at Yuet Lee in Chinatown. Taking the slow walk up Broadway after work. And I remember the last meal at E and O. Yep, we laughed how we could now really afford the same noodles in a different atmosphere. And you were still the same with your laugh and inquisitiveness. You are missed.

In a day it will be a year since Chris passed away, but he will forever live in our hearts and on the internet. I always used to say to my brother, "Anyone can go 90 on the Bay Bridge when it's not crowded, but how many people can do 40?" I guess he was just being laid-back and was relaxing. DL, I'm sure you're in his thoughts also.

All right, since i guess my brother now lives on the internet, here is a small tidbit. The last movie that we watched (he made me) was something called Amour about an old French couple, and one of them was coping with a stroke. In hindsight, it kind of made me think about what happened with him. But it is a good memory that the last movie he saw was called "Love" in French. I think I asked him, "Why are we watching this?" and he said, "Just keep it there." That was the night before he passed away. And that's a nice memory of him for all you Chris watchers out there.

All these years I have been wondering what Chris has been doing after Sacred Heart and unfortunately I have just been informed recently of your passing. I remembered you as a smart and funny guy and who could forget the isometric exercises you liked to do during class from squeezing wads of paper to bicep curls under your desk. It's too bad I was not able to catch up with you in person but at least you left behind good memories.

Chris was a very unique person...then I met Bucky... Seriously, I've worked with Chris for almost 10 years. We've worked closely, as he was the one who took care of all the group arrivals. We've had our arguments and differences, but I have so much respect for him. He is that kind of person that you wouldn't and couldn't get angry at, especially once you get to know him. His points of views were always different from the others, but not in a bad way, but in an almost endearing way. I will miss you so much Chris and you will always remain in our hearts.

I say goodbye to a friend of 26 years. For more than half my life, he showed me what it was to be humble, to be dedicated and to be considerate. He always put others ahead and always observed life with a smile and a helping hand. He never forgot a friend, and he underestimated how many friends he touched. He taught me the value and meaning of friendship. He always told me...you just know...I understand today that I just know he was and is always there for me. He let others be heroes. He is my reluctant hero. I hope I can be half the person Chris is.

As a guest of Marriott, I meet Chris Wing in early 2011. On each of my many trips to S.F. since then I have made a point of staying at the Marriott. Mr.Wing was always helpful, positive, and professional. Somehow, with all the 100s of people passing thru Marriott, he greeted me with friendly recognition. Our many conversations by phone and in person were professional but still friendly. When I arrived at the Marriott this month, I called down asking to speak to Mr. Wing and was saddened to hear of his passing. Some people briefly touch our lives, and that touch is memorable. Chris Wing is a person I will remember. My deepest sympathy to the Wing family.

My deepest and sincere condolences to the Wing family. Though I have not seen Chris since the 5th grade, I was always impressed with his intelligence and inquisitive nature. Chris always greeted me with a smile on his face and could make me laugh about many things...especially his stories about Bucky:). He always liked to make fun of me saying how I looked exactly like my brother and I would always tell him he looked exactly like Buck. I'm going to miss Chris' light hearted sense of humor and will always have great memories of him.
