Dear Beck family:

We only heard of the unfortunate accident resulting in Chris' passing today. We both worked with Chris at IRS Appeals (Jean was a former Western Region IRS Appeals person and Ted worked with Chris in National Office Appeals). Chris was always a friend and nice guy...with quite a golf swing! We know this will be a difficult time for the family but know that you are in our prayers.

Mrs. Beck - we heard of Chris's passing from Bud Brownell. Both Chris and he were to play in our golf tournament this Sat at Santa Clara. Bud mentioned to us how we can help, so please accept our donation to the Stanford Comprehensive Cancer Center. We want to express condolences for your loss. May your bereavement be a short one.

Chris Beck's family, especially Ruth and Bob:

Ruth and Bob, you may not remember me, but I worked at IRS with Chris in San Jose, 1971-1987. Chris and Bob played basketball on our office team, Pete's Steak House. I remember those days so fondly. Ruth, I knew you at picnics, retirements, Christmas parties, and the parties of IRS personnel held on various Saturday nights in the 1970's. I just got a phone call from Brian Kelley who played basketball with us and who informed me of Chris' passing. I am so sad to learn of this. Chris was one of the nicest, kindest, most loyal, and talented man I've known. I called him in Washington, DC shortly before I retired and had hoped to see him. Words can not express my condolences to your entire family. I remember how devoted he was to your daughters and know that he must have been a terrific grandfather. All of us are better people for having known him; I shall miss him greatly. May God assist you in this grieving period you must pass through. I will be in Calif. Aug. 22 to visit my grandkids and wish that I could have seen Chris again. Love and prayers to all of you.

Ruth, I know you don't know me well, but I owe my Appeals career to Chris. He took a chance on me some 20 years ago and for that I am eternally grateful. You and your family are blessed to have cherished memories to share, so although he's gone, he'll be with you always.

Dear Beck Family,

Carol and I are shocked and devastated upon hearing the news of Chris' death.

We offer our sympathies and condolences.

Chris and the Beck family has certainly touched our lives with a true friendship for over twenty five years. Beginning with years of great softball experiences on the "Dugouts", to being included in many of the Beck/Lorin family functions and lastly for the genuine friendship and comraderie Phil has enjoyed playing golf with Chris, the Lorins and other dear friends.

The sudden news has caught Carol and I in committments for which we cannot change so regrettfully we will not be able to personally express and share your loss with you.

We are deeply saddened.....

Our very sincerest wishes and sympathies.
