Christine Hawkins Obituary

Christine "Chris" Ann Hawkins Passed away February 26, 2008, after losing a courageous yearlong battle with cancer. Born July 19, 1952, she grew up in a loving home with parents Christiana and William Russell Hawkins. She is survived by her brother William. A legendary San Francisco mortgage broker, Chris was respected and adored by peers and clients alike. Her lightening-fast mind, fierce command of calculations, and razor-sharp wit left an indelible impression on everyone who came into contact with her. She was viewed by many as a powerhouse in a small package. Chris loved nature, hiking, long walks with her dogs and meaningful moments with friends. She had a wonderful eye for home renovating. Her generosity knew no bounds. A loyal friend, Chris would do anything to bolster and support those she loved. She was a devoted daughter who took great care of her mother. It is a tragic loss that they both passed away within weeks of each other. Chris had an incredibly strong life force. She was captivated by the search for truth within herself and others. It was her life's pursuit to live with compassion and love well. It was her wish that we should all follow our heart. Chris leaves a large group of close friends who are devastated by the loss of her, and are heartbroken over the injustice of her early passing. A Celebration of Life memorial will be held on Saturday, March 15, 4:30 p.m. at the Swedenborgian Church, 2107 Lyon Street (at Washington). SF. In lieu of flowers, funds are being raised for the donation of a park bench, trail marker or tree in her honor. For more info., call 415-717-4242 or email [email protected].

Chris was so special to so many and she marked my life in such a significant way. It is hard to look at her picture and know we won't hear that laugh again. The sparkle in her eyes tells us all we need to know. Chris will live in my heart forever.

Chrissy was a wonderful friend...I will always remember our "FUN" days growing up together in Melbourne, Florida, our four years at Central Catholic High School(especailly Fr. King's class) and the many years after the Univeristy of Florida. What "TERRIFIC" times we shared at your home with your Mother, Father and bother William. All of our pool parties, days at the beach, adventures, rolling houses and pratical jokes, it seem like yesterday. John and I were blessed that you were our "maid of honor" at our wedding in 1976 and treasure those memories. I am so thankful we had dinner together on your last visit home. OLD Friends are the BEST Friends..Chrissy you will be missed but always in our HEARTS.

I will always remember her great sense of humor and how much she made me and others laugh. Our days growing up together in Melbourne, Florida were adventureous and memorable. I am so sad on her passing but grateful for the fun time we had and that we were able to stay in touch right up to end.
