Christine Elizabeth Jones
01/17/1991 - 05/28/2024
Christine Jones, 'Chrissie', passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 28, 2024 after a year long battle with cancer.
Chrissie is survived by her mother Elizabeth Jones, brother Daniel Jones, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, countless amazing friends, and her beloved fur son, Henry. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Jones, in 2001.
Chrissie was a San Mateo native born at Mills Hospital on January 17, 1991. She graduated from Sacred Heart Prep high school where she played lacrosse and volleyball and made lifelong friendships. She then attended UC Santa Barbara and graduated with a degree in Political Science in 2013. She worked in the wine industry for three years in Santa Barbara following graduation, eventually becoming a first level sommelier. She enjoyed the beach life and the ocean, happy hours with friends in The Funk Zone, and especially rollerblading along the boardwalk. She had a great love of animals and volunteered at both the Santa Barbara and Burlingame humane societies.
In 2016, Chrissie moved back to San Francisco to pursue a career in law. She worked as a legal assistant and paralegal at Phillips, Spallas & Angstadt, a civil litigation firm in downtown San Francisco, while studying for the LSAT in the evenings and on weekends. Dissatisfied with the scholarship opportunities presented to her after taking the LSAT and applying to law schools, she opted to parlay her legal experience into a legal operations role at LiveRamp, a San Francisco based SaaS (Software as a service) company.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, Chrissie saw an opportunity to continue to work for LiveRamp remotely, move out of her cramped San Francisco apartment, and buy a house with a yard for her beloved rescue dog Henry in booming Austin, Texas. She set about decorating on a budget and created a beautiful spa like retreat to entertain her budding network of Austin friends and visiting family. She developed incredible friendships in Austin with a core group of amazing people who meant the absolute world to her. She briefly switched companies in 2021 and worked as a Senior Associate of Legal Operations for Elastic, an AI focused Search SaaS company, in their Austin, Texas office. She was most recently the Senior Manager of Legal Operations at Demandbase, a leader in Account-Based Marketing (ABM) Software and Go-to-Market (GTM) Tools.
Chrissie's love for her family, friends, and the 49ers was boundless. She rarely missed a game, even from Austin, where she was known to drag friends to any bar she could find showing the game, with a jersey on and Henry in tow, of course. She was an avid skier and loved Tahoe, where the family spent many winters and holidays. A truly adventurous soul, she loved experiencing new cultures and took every opportunity to travel and see the world. A semester abroad in Berlin her junior year of college opened her up to all Europe had to offer. She moved to Washington DC briefly in the summer of 2012 to intern at a political organization called No Labels. She never turned down a trip to Hawaii or Mexico, and many a family and friends vacations were spent on those sunny beaches.
When you were with Chrissie you laughed, had great conversations, and felt her genuine warmth and concern. She had a sharp sense of humor and lived life to the fullest. She always took opportunities to make positive changes both in her home life and career. She would be your biggest cheerleader, offering encouraging words of wisdom to friends or family seeking advice. Even in the later stages of her illness she was more concerned with her friend's problems than her own. It wasn't all serious, however. She never shied away from a quick witted one-liner to provide some comic relief and put people at ease. She cultivated long lasting relationships built on joy, love, generosity, and compassion.
Chrissie was very spiritual and truly believed in the idea of an afterlife. Whether that be a wonderful place we all go after we leave this existence or some sort of reincarnation into a new soul, she knew this was just her first journey. We know her spirit will be with us forever and are confident she is smiling down on us now.
Please join us in celebrating Chrissie at a Memorial Mass on August 10th at 11am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1310 Bayswater Ave, Burlingame, CA 94010. Reception to follow.
Donations can be made in Chrissie's honor to the Peninsula Humane Society.
