Claire Stephenson Obituary

Claire McGinnis Stephenson

86, of New York City, Southampton, Long Island, and Palm Beach, FL died after a short illness on Monday, April 13th in Palm Beach. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Signoret McGinnis, a prominent San Francisco family, Claire was born on March 7th, 1929 and was the youngest of six children. She attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart in San Francisco and graduated from Finch College in New York City. Claire was known for the love she had for her large family, her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, and her exquisite style and grace. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Garrick with whom she established the Garrick C. Stephenson Foundation to support charity organizations in Southampton and the South Fork of Long Island, NY. She is survived by her children Marina Obolensky (Bill) Folwick of Wheeler, WI, Ivan (Mary Jo) Obolensky of Glendale, CA, David I. (Catharine) Obolensky of Nashville, TN, Claire E. Stephenson of Deauville, France, Christina Stephenson (Bernard) Roche of Brussels, Belgium; and stepchildren Mary Stephenson of Southampton, NY and Naples, FL, and Serena Stephenson (Tom) Molloy of Cincinnati, OH. Claire is also survived by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, through whom her memory lives on. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns Monastery, 1101 N. River Road Des Plaines, IL 60016 or to Our Lady of Poland Roman Catholic Church, 35 Maple St, Southampton, NY 11968.
