Clare Lynch

November 26, 1919 – August 5, 2014

Passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 94. Clare was born in San Francisco on November 26, 1919 to parents Dr. Charles and Marie Hobrecht. She grew up in San Francisco, attending St. Boniface School, Academy of the Presentation, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Francisco State College in 1942.
She and her husband, Frank, resided in the Outer Richmond District for over fifty years. They were parishioners of St. Thomas Apostle Catholic Church. During their years together, they enjoyed traveling abroad, but mostly taking "road trips" throughout the US and Canada.
In her youth, Clare enjoyed hiking on Mt. Tam and singing with her sisters, Marian and Loraine (aka the Melody Sisters). Her love of opera remained with her throughout her life, often attending performances at the San Francisco Opera. For thirty years, she was employed by the City of San Francisco's Welfare Department.
Clare was the youngest of six children. Thus her brothers and sisters predeceased her: Cyril Hobrecht, Edward Hobrecht, Helen Hampton, Marian Rezos and Loraine Phelan. Her husband of 53 years, Frank P. Lynch, also preceded her in death. Clare is survived by nineteen nieces and nephews and their families. Her family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to AlmaVia of San Francisco for the loving care she received there for the past ten years.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 15th at 11:00am at St. Thomas Apostle Catholic Church, 3835 Balboa Street, San Francisco. A reception will follow at the Beach Chalet's Greenhouse area. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you make a donation to your favorite charity.
