Consuelo Margaret (Stigall) Evans was born in Chicago Illinois to Thomas J. and Margaret A. Stigall on July 9, 1948. In 1955 her family moved to San Carlos California where proximity to ocean and beaches, mountains, parks, wildlife, farms, and forests helped shape her path for life. She was the oldest of three children and her upbringing included many intellectual, artistic, and outdoors pursuits.
In 1977 Consuelo moved to the rural off-grid community of Salmon Creek in Miranda California where she continued to raise her son and fulfilled many of her goals and dreams.
She was multi-talented, lovingly helpful to her family and friends, inquisitive and adventurous. Her skills and interests varied widely and she lived her life as a mother, businesswoman, horticulturist, masterful swimmer, kayaker, surfer, superb cook, horse woman, dancer, friend, mentor and more.
Among her many accomplishments, she was most passionate about raising her devoted son Michael Dunbar, being a nurturing mother-in-law to his wife Oyu and as a lively and loving Nana to her treasured granddaughter Kassidy.
On August 30, 2022, Consuelo suffered a stroke at her home in Miranda. Ultimately transferred to University of California San Francisco Parnassus Campus, she spent the last hours of her life surrounded by her family; passing on August 31, 2022. We as her family are deeply grateful to the First Responders of the Salmon Creek Volunteer Fire Department; and to the staff of both the Gerald Phelps Community Hospital (Garberville California) and UC San Francisco Parnassus Campus.
Consuelo (Stigall) Evans was pre-deceased by her parents, aunts and uncles. She is survived by her family including son Michael Dunbar (Oyu), her granddaughter Kassidy, her dear friend and former husband Rolf Specht, her brother and sister-in-law, her sister Georgia Stigall (Bill), her nephew Jon and his children, and many cousins and friends.
To donate in Consuelo's memory, please consider Salmon Creek Volunteer Fire Department (Miranda California), the United Irish Cultural Center (San Francisco), the California Native Plant Society (Sacramento); or your choice of any recipient that would honor Consuelo's values.

Consuelo was my friend. Trusted. Wise. Direct. Counted on her point of view always. She loved her family. Beyond words. She comforted me with her quiet polite graciousness in my time of awful loss. Always knew her thinking/opinion without necessity to ask. She was a very fine, kind, smart friend with wise and measured judgement. I and others will miss your spirit. Watch for butterflies she is with us still!

My forever friend. 45 years of friendship that started when We worked together at Papa Johns Pizza in Redway. Many adventures, when we lived close or faraway from each other. We knew each other´s secrets, and had many wild times or just relaxing with glasses of wine. I´ll miss you always and look to the stars at night. thank you for being my best friend.

Consuelo was a wonderful, kind woman, a kindred spirit, and one of the easiest people to speak to and connect with. I will miss the family gatherings we have had and also miss the times I did not yet get to spend with her. She will be missed tremendously.

To my beloved sister Consuelo ... you were a devoted and wonderful daughter, sister, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend and mentor to many. I will deeply miss our near-daily communication, our "best friendship", the future plans we have and so much more. I will always remember what I have learned from you, the great memories of joy and laughter, and will carry on with our shared values. Thank you for being my sister ...
