Craig Hunt Obituary

Craig Hunt
10/18/1938 - 01/27/2025
Craig Monard Hunt, of San Francisco, California, passed away on January 27, 2025, in Los Angeles.
Craig was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Anita and Monard Hunt, on October 18, 1938. Craig was an avid student who excelled at sports, developing a special love for basketball. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1960. He remained in Madison for his graduate work, earning a law degree and Master's in Economics in 1964.
As an officer in the Army in the late 1960s, Craig was fortunate to be stationed in London, inspiring a lifelong love of the city and of travel more broadly. After his military service, Craig served as a tax attorney and CPA in San Francisco, occasionally teaching courses at both Golden Gate University and New York University's School of Law. Craig was a trailblazer in the alternative energy industry, applying his expertise in leasing to become an innovator of solar power purchase agreements, which have become a primary vehicle for financing solar energy transactions.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents; as well as his sisters, Robin Janac and Lesley Haynie. Craig is survived by his wife, Eva; his children, Katy Hunt Whorton (John) of Mill Valley, California, Daniel Hunt (Maola) of Brooklyn, New York, Stephen Hunt (Andrea) of Manhattan Beach, California, Caroline Hunt (Dylan) of Los Angeles, California, and Daniela Hunt of Los Angeles, California; and his grandchildren, Anna Hunt, Christina Hunt, Sean Whorton, Patrick Hunt, Charlie Hunt, and Peter Hunt. Craig is also survived by his brother-in-law, Richard Janac of Phoenix, Arizona; and his nephews, Rick Janac (Cathy) of State College, Pennsylvania and Ryan Janac (Monica) of Phoenix, Arizona.
When we think about our father, we will remember his devotion to Wisconsin sports teams; his passion for apple-picking, canning, and making pies; his love of the tallest Christmas trees; his joy in coaching our soccer and basketball teams; his delight in teaching us how to ski and make pancakes; his optimism about the future; and his absolute love for his family.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 29, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, in Racine, Wisconsin, with Father Matthew Buterbaugh officiating. The funeral will also be for Craig's sister, Lesley Haynie, who passed away on August 22, 2024. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Racine Symphony Orchestra Association, in honor of Craig's lifelong love of the performing arts and his home state of Wisconsin.

I´m so sorry and distressed to learn about Craig´s passing away.
We met playing basketball in a pickup game at UW MADISON. We remained friends for decades!
His photo on his obituary reminds me of him perfectly. A big smile on his face and looking upward with positivity.

All my Love to his family,
