CYNTHIA BUSSIERE Obituary

Cynthia Parker Bussiere
Passed away peacefully on September 7, 2012, with her family by her side.
Born in San Francisco on September 13, 1923, Cynthia was the loving daughter of Katherine (Galvin) Parker Ciarlanti and Lloyd Cote Marsh, and the beloved adopted daughter of Laurence Bishop Parker. Cynthia attended St. Cecilia's grammar school. She went on to attend and graduate from St. Rose Academy (class of 1941) and Stanford University (class of 1945).
Educating her daughters in the City's parochial schools, Cynthia gave generously of her time and talent to her daughters' elementary and secondary schools, and to the San Francisco Hearing and Speech Center.
By the time her daughters were in high school, Cynthia had begun a career with the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau, where she worked for 33 years. Upon moving to San Mateo in 1974, Cynthia also worked with the San Mateo County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Cynthia loved cats, books, film, and theatre. As a committed cat lover, she was never without a feline companion during the last 40 years of her life. She was an avid reader of romance, mystery, and historical novels. A regular film-goer from childhood, she particularly favored the classic movies of her generation and the musicals of the 50s and 60s. She was a long-time patron of the San Francisco theatre and a regular patron of the London stage. Witty, wistful, and winning, as well as an astute observer of the human condition, she traveled widely with her late husband and family throughout the United States, Polynesia, and Europe. Both at home and abroad, her sophisticated sense of humor and irony served her well, endeared her to friends and family, and earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and acquaintances.
Preceded in death by her devoted husband of 59 years, Joseph G. (Jerry) Bussiere, Cynthia is survived by her loving daughters Cynthia Ann Bussiere and Suzanne Marie Bussiere, both of San Francisco, and her beloved cat, Muffin Mischief. Her family extends their loving gratitude to Crisanta Rosales, her long-time caregiver.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, September 12, at Sneider & Sullivan & O'Connell's Funeral Home, 977 South El Camino Real in San Mateo, and the Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday, September 13, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 1 Notre Dame Avenue in San Mateo, with reception afterwards. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
