Daniel Murphy died on March 7, 2026, following a prolonged struggle with Parkinson's. He was born on June 7, 1951, to Michael and Mary Murphy in Currow, Co. Kerry, Ireland. The fourth of eight siblings, he was preceded in death by his sisters Peggie McDonald (Des) and Nora Carroll. He is survived by Thomas (Sheila), Kathleen Carroll (Shea), Freddie (Bernie), Joe (Leeann), and Connie (Sinead).
Dan immigrated to San Francisco in 1977 and married Noreen Brosnan. He got his start in construction working alongside his father-in-law, Patrick Brosnan (Sheila), building several projects with many of his friends who had also come from Ireland. He went on to grow a successful business with Noreen. In his free time, he enjoyed watching and playing golf, trips to Reno, catching up with friends on the phone, and occasionally going to the races. He was a lifelong fan of the GAA - Up the Kingdom!
He will be dearly missed by his family, with whom he shared many happy memories, bad puns, and fun nights. In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by dozens of nieces and nephews; his brother-in-law, Kerry Brosnan (Carol); his children, Gavin (Fahmida), Sarah, and Julie (Justin); and his very favorite granddaughter, Emma.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 10:00 am at All Souls Catholic Church, 315 Walnut Street in South San Francisco, CA.
