Daniel O'Leary Obituary
Dan served in the U.S. Army Air Corp's Pacific Theatre, China Burma India (CBI) during World War II under Gen. Joseph Stilwell. Following the war he returned to San Francisco and attended Golden Gate College. He Co-founded Ad-Art Sign Company of Stockton, California along with brothers John and Lou Papais. The trio transformed a small Stockton based sign company into a dominant industry leader. Ad-Art designed, manufactured and installed many notable landmark projects throughout the United States and transformed the Las Vegas Strip with some of the most exciting designs and "sign spectaculars" in the history of the industry. He also served on the Presentation School and St. Mary's High School boards, serving as President, while remaining an active member of St. Michael's Parish.
Dan was preceded in Death by his wife of 44 years, Albina Rossi O'Leary. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Beverly Ann O'Leary of Lodi, a sister, Dorothy Collopy of Burlingame, his children, Melissa Hobby and Gregory O'Leary of Stockton, Martin and Lisa O'Leary of Lodi, Jan and David Gellerman of Valley Springs, Terri Jo and Dale Reiger of Washington, Rob and Kandi Miller of Stockton, 14 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Papa was known to his family for being a consummate gentleman, his great sense of humor, and his kind way, but always keeping in mind he was Irish.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 15th at 12:30p.m. at St. Michael's Church, 5882 North Ashley Lane, Stockton, CA 95212.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 pm, with a vigil service taking place at 6:00pm on Friday, December 14th, at the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 at Harney Lane, Lodi, Ca. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Daniel O'Leary Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o St. Mary's High School, P.O. Box 7247, Stockton, CA 95267.
