Dante Poverello Obituary
Dante was born in San Francisco in 1937 and was the loving son of Dante and Elvira Poverello. He was preceded in death by his son Danny in 1980 and his brother Robert in 2012. He is survived by his wife Joanne, sister Linda Berzins, her husband Ziggy, Roberts wife Ann Poverello, and brother in law and sister in law Joe and Terri Grondona. He also has many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dan was a proud Union Electrician for 40 years in the San Francisco Local IBEW. He was also proud of his honorable service in the US Navy.
He retired to Grass Valley in 1997 and found great spiritual reward raising cattle, vegetable gardening and cooking. He was a gentle soul that loved his family, friends and pets. He loved playing Santa Claus for the Sheriff's department. Everyone that knew him knew of his love for his loyal dog Bino. But not many knew that his favorite cow was named Fog horn.
He was fond of cooking for large groups of people and was especially known for his award winning spaghetti sauce.
He enjoyed the many friends he made in the Grass Valley area. There are too numerous to be mentioned by name. Just know that he loved you all.
Services will be held on Monday, February 13th, at Lassila Funeral Chapel, 551 Grass Valley Hwy. Auburn, Ca. Visitation 10:00 AM Rosary 12:00 PM and Interment 2:30 in the Hooper Weaver Cemetery 459 Hollow Way, Nevada City.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in his name to Shriners Hospital, Muscular Dystrophy Association or your favorite charity.

Just learned of the loss of our dear Dan. You were the most soft and gentle man and we will always remember your kindness, your roar of a beautiful laugh, and also for teaching our son how to fish, for always giving our dog Sadie treats and your wonderful hospitality in Tahoe.
