Darrell Digrazia Obituary

Darrell Digrazia Passed away peacefully on July 19. He was surrounded by his family. Darrell was born in Lucca Italy in 1932. He immigrated to the US as a child and was raised in Winnemucca, NV. After graduating from the University of Utah, he made his way to SF where he would meet his wife Diana and raise his family. Darrell had a passion for education, religion, and the Democratic Party (not necessarily in that order). He was a teacher in SF for 30 years, a regular at Sunday mass, and the proud owner of an Al Gore bumper sticker. Darrell will be met at Heaven's Gate by his wife Diana, who preceded him. He will be greatly missed by his kids, grandchildren, brother, sister-in-law, cousin, and friends. Darrell will be especially missed by the gang down at the Stonestown YMCA. A mass will be held at 11 AM at St. Cecilia's church, 2555 17th Ave, San Francisco.

He was so wonderfully kind, such a gentle soul. I insisted on attending my grandmother's funeral who died when I was in Fifth Grade. I made it half way through the Mass and fainted. Later, at Zia Natalina's house, amid the hussle and bussle of an elaborate family dinner, as I laid on the couch, Darrell took the time to sit down on the couch and talk with me. He helped an eleven-year-old reconcile the passing of a beloved grandparent. My thoughts and prayers are with his loving family. We always thought Diane was so beautiful and their children so handsome. I will have a Mass said for Darrell at our beautifully restored St. Mary's in the Mountains. Andria Daley
