David Galli Obituary

David Robert Galli
On March 8, 2022 David Robert Galli passed away peacefully at his home in Redwood City, CA in the loving presence of his family. Born Dec 30, 1945 in San Francisco, CA he was the only son to Italian parents Elmo Galli and Laura Healy. Raised in the Excelsior District, David attended Corpus Christi Elementary, Riordan High and graduated from SF State with a degree in Business Administration.
David ("Nonno") is survived by his 3 sons, Matthew, Nathan and Darrell; his adoring life partner, Andra Flynn; 5 wonderful grandchildren, Jacob, Dominic, Ava, Lucca and Sofia; 3 daughters-in-law, Christine, Nicole and Anne; his stepdaughter, Morgan and stepson Jonathan; and his marvelous Aunt Jean.
After serving in the U.S. Army Reserves as a medic and a year of volunteer work with AmeriCorps VISTA, David entered real estate under the mentorship of his stepfather, Les Healy, at Pen Pac Realty. He then started Galli Realty where he thrived, eventually serving as President for the Redwood City-San Carlos-Belmont Board of Realtors. David personified what an honest businessman rooted in principal, integrity and loyalty could achieve, often referring to his close associates and partners as, "the greatest ever."
While raising his family, David found great value in extended family vacations to Coronado, Napa, Trinity Lake, Mexico, Twain Harte and Lake Tahoe. He got tremendous joy watching his love of snow skiing pass down to his children and grandchildren. In recent years David and Andra explored all corners of the globe, immersing themselves in local cultures far and wide.
Dave was an avid art, wine and music enthusiast and his passion for cooking peaked yearly during his highly anticipated holiday meals. As a car collector he enjoyed automobile clubs, participating in car shows and "making the rounds" at the carwashes. He looked forward to walks in San Francisco, discussing literature in his book club and staying physically fit well into his 70s. As a lifelong Giants fan, the "torture" titles of 10', 12' and 14' etched into him an indelible satisfaction helping atone for 2002.
David's thoughtfulness, generosity and sincerity emitted a charismatic magnetism that touched countless lives. He had an endearing smile and brilliant sense of humor filled with intelligent wit. His passion for life was infectious and his courageous perseverance inspiring. While David enjoyed so much beauty this world has to offer, he cherished nothing greater than spending time in the presence of his dearest friends and those he loved. He will be immensely missed.
On Friday, March 18, at 10:00 AM a memorial service will be held at St. Charles Church, 880 Tamarack Ave, San Carlos, CA 94070. A reception will follow at Twin Pines, in the Lodge, 40 Twin Pines Ln, Belmont, CA 94002.
In lieu of flowers, donations for AML research in David's memory can be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society found at LLS.org.

Dave was loved by so many, I too have fond memories of him from back "in the day," after high school graduation. I met his great group of friends, watched his band rehearse in someone's garage, and attended a party at his mom's house on the Peninsula. I remember, as a city girl, being very impressed that it had a pool! He was one class act and I will never forget him.

Dear Dave, you will be missed, but always remembered as our lives paralleled each other: fellow Excelsior kids, class of `64 Riordan, SFSU business majors, Army Reserve Medic Units, fellow real estate broker- owners. We shared too many commonalities to ever forget you. Congratulations for a life well lived.
Condolences to your family,
Ken Hoegger

I was so bummed when my brother Rod emailed me about Dave's passing. I was five years ahead of Dave and Rod at Corpus Christi but I remember fondly when Dave and Al Agresti would walk me home from school. Two little boys with a crush. I last say Dave at Rods 70th birthday party. He was a great guy. I will miss never seeing again.

Dave has been my friend since 1969. He was my husband's friend since grammar school and my brother in law's buddy and classmate. Dave's sons and our kids were roughly similar in ages and our families spent lots of time together especially when the kids were very young. But Dave was always ready to help with anything he could. We treasured Dave as a close family friend. I'm adding a photo of Dave and my husband, Frank, taken on move in day 1983. We had hoped he would stop by so we could thank him for finding our new family home for us. He did and Frank felt that he should "dress up" by adding the tie to his moving clothes! I'm picturing them now, having a "glass of" together again. God rest his soul. A good man.

David was a much beloved classmate from kindergarten through 8th grade and always a great friend to catch up with. Our annual kindergarten reunion will not be the same without Dave.

Sincere condolences to his grieving family.

Dave will be truly missed at all the Corpus Christi events. He made time to chat with all his pals from grammar school. Dave was such a kind man.
