David Sieber Obituary

David Paul Sieber
04/21/1943 - 08/07/2025
David Paul Sieber "Shorty", 82 years old, of San Francisco, went to be with the LORD, Thursday August 7, 2025 after a 17 month illness related to his Army service in Vietnam.
David, cute little baby boy, born St Joseph's Hospital 4-21-43 (Queen Elizabeth's birthday), to John George Sieber and Maryann Margaret (Graham) Sieber of unincorporated Bayshore City, now Daly City, followed big brother Philip and preceded sister Lynn (Missy).
David attended Jefferson High School, taking college prep classes, making many lifetime loving friends and memories while building a hotrod before he was old enough to drive. He later took college and work training courses. David married wife, Phyllis Gunder Sieber, 7-25-92 and became honorary Balboan. Phyllis was his world traveling companion, co-worker, confidant, and care giver, whose family loved his kindness and sense of humor. David asked that this article say that he thought Phyllis was the nicest person in the world.
David, a volunteer Daly City Fireman, who was drafted, went to Vietnam in 1965 and there for the bombing of TanSunNhut. At the end of service, his Colonel told him he wished he had a son just like him. After the Army, David became a San Francisco Police Officer retiring after 28 years. He felt his claim to fame was that senior officer, Ben Vaniderstine, chose David to be his partner. Upon retirement and building a 5 bedroom, split level house, and other buildings, David became a volunteer fire fighter for Salmon River Rural Fire Dept. for nearly 20 years and on the Board of Directors as Treasurer.
David, a patriot who loved our Country served as American Legion Commander, church member, a member of IOOF Lodge (Oddfellow& Rebekah), member Salmon River Art Guild where he painted, POA, SFVPOA, Jefferson Alumni and many other organizations.
David had a life of service to others taking care of elderly, working with kids, and had animal magnetism, as loving owner/generous contributor for dogs and cats.
Predeceased by parents; mother-in-law that adored him; Aunt Mernie, who he took care of; siblings and many other loved ones. He leaves behind his 36 year long, loving wife Phyllis; 3 daughters; 2 grandsons; 1 son in law; many loving nieces and nephews that he adored; and a huge extended family of friends (Army, work, school, neighbors) who adopted him into their families.
Much appreciation goes to Kaiser, VA and Linda Mar Rehab for their love and help.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 20th at 10:30am at Duggans Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City.

Your Spirit

I know that no matter what
You will always be with me.
When life separates us
I´ll know it is only your soul
Saying goodbye to your body
But your spirit will be with me always.
When I see a bird chirping on a nearby branch
I will know it is you singing to me.
When a butterfly brushes gently by me so care freely
I will know it is you assuring me you are free from pain.
When the gentle fragrance of a flower catches my attention
I will know it is you reminding me
To appreciate the simple things in life.
When the sun shining through my window awakens me
I will feel the warmth of your love.

I will never forget sitting on your feet as you walked me through the house, standing on your feet to teach me how to dance, the many dances we shared, the laughter, the secret's that no one will ever know, the way you twirled your mustache with a smile and a laugh. The memories we made will be in my heart and soul forever. Dance with the Angel's now Uncle Shorty. With Luv
